Glitch voted one of the world’s best free VST plug-ins

Glitch voted one of the 13 best free VST plug-ins by Music Radar

Glitch has been voted one of the 13 best free VST plug-ins in the world today by Music Radar. There are some real heavy hitters in the line up such as Kjaerhus Audio’s Classic effect series, Togu Audio Line’s effect series and NoiseMaker synth, Ichiro Toda’s Synth1, Magnus Jonsson’s Ambience reverb and Voxengo’s SPAN, so it’s an honour to be featured alongside such developers whose work I admire and use quite regularly in my own music. Many thanks to the staff at Music Radar and especially to all the users who nominated Glitch. Cheers!

Merchandise

I have opened a shop on Spreadshirt to offer Glitch t-shirts and other merchandise that I think people might enjoy. There’s only a handful of items available at the moment, but I’ll be gradually adding a wider range of designs and products as time goes on. Please take a look and see if there’s anything you like!

Glitch v1.3.05

Glitch screenshot

Due to various stressful things going on in my RealLife™ over the past couple of years, it has been far too long since I was last able to work on Glitch, but I’m happy to announce that I’ve finally been able to spend some more time with it recently. At the moment I’m close to finishing a complete rewrite of the plug-in core itself, and although it will not have any major new feature additions (yet), it will be based on VST 2.4 and should be much more stable and efficient. More on that good stuff later!

Plastic Robot interview

Plastic Robot, a newly-created electronic music blog/zine, interviewed me recently to talk about Glitch, my music, my workflow, and to get my thoughts on a few other topics.

Plastic Robot: One of the most inspiring aspects of the music culture to us is the creation of tools to push the interaction between user and intrument… Or perhaps just the creation of new instruments altogether! Sometimes these new tools can create a whole new world of their own. Glitch proves to be one of these instruments. We happened to catch up with Glitch creator Kieran Foster and were able to ask him a few questions about his cult VST. Without further nonsense, we are honored to present our interview with dblue.

Glitch in Sound On Sound July 2008

If you like sound-mangling plug-ins, they don’t get much more creative than Kieran Foster’s Glitch. Originally developed to ease the creation of glitchy electronic beats, Glitch is a freeware, PC-only download that has evolved over several years into a comprehensive and versatile tool that can transform synths, audio tracks and loops in a host of ways, from subtle to extreme.

Glitch Demo Video

This is just a quick demo video I made to show off some of the features of my Glitch VST plug-in. I let a simple breakbeat sample play on loop while I go through and tweak various parameters in real time. It’s difficult to see all the details thanks to YouTube’s low res video, but hopefully you get the idea.
