Please read this before posting your comments or asking any questions. Thanks!
If you hadn’t already guessed from the major lack of updates, the development of Glitch is on hold indefinitely (and has been for quite some time). I do plan to eventually continue development at some point – I have not abandoned it! – but, without going into too much personal detail, the last few years have been very stressful for me, and Glitch simply isn’t a priority in my life right now.
To everyone asking me to open source it: I genuinely appreciate your offers to help and your interest, but I’m sorry, it’s just not going to happen. Please believe me when I tell you – the source code isn’t even close to being portable. For anyone that’s curious: it’s coded in Object Pascal using Delphi, it relies on a bunch of Win32 stuff, and overall it’s a poorly structured, unoptimised mess!
To everyone asking about a Mac version: I hear you guys loud and clear, and I would love to make a Mac version, but I have no immediate plans to do so. I don’t own a Mac, I’ve never programmed for a Mac, and I do not have any plans (or money!) to buy one. There is so much stuff I need to improve and fix in the Windows version of Glitch first, before I can even start thinking about creating something for another operating system and plug-in format. I’m sorry to say that Mac simply isn’t a priority for me at the moment.
The only thing I can suggest is that you check out some other popular plug-ins which are available for Mac:
- Livecut by Mdsp
- Buffer Override by Destroy FX
- Major Malfunction by Dan Nigrin / Defective Records
- Automaton and Replicant by Audio Damage
- Effectrix by Sugar Bytes
- The Finger by Native Instruments.
Please note: I am not associated with these products/companies in any way; I am simply providing the links here for your convenience.
Anyway… as I gradually figure things out in my personal life and get back into coding on a regular basis, I will do my best to squash the last remaining bugs in the plug-in and update it to VST 2.4 (sorry, I have no real interest in VST 3.0 at the moment). I will also focus on creating some small, single purpose effects – stuff that I can create more easily and in a more casual fashion, rather than some huge beast like Glitch that eats up all my free time (and sanity). I received quite a lot of requests to release single versions of the effects from Glitch, so that’s probably one of the first things I’ll do.
Feel free to continue leaving your comments here as usual, but please do not expect to see any updates anytime soon.
Cheers,
Kieran.

how does a person get the midi learn to work in FL Studio??
I right click it lights up but nothing…it doesn't recognize my midi controller and the controller works for everything else
Just to say we really appreciate this plug-in. Not just for what it does to the sound (which is wicked), but the UI is also an inspiration and really encourages you to play with it.
Thanks
Wow. This is very very impressive. Well done, so many plug-ins out there that are c**p and this one, for free, is a gem!
Hi Kieran,
I use the plugin as part of my DJing/Live Performance sets. Currently I automate it via the Novation Nocturn. Sadly, Ableton Live doesn't recognize parameter mappings, so I'm not able to automate and record the automation via Live :(
I'd be willing to pay money for that feature to work!
But even if it maybe will never work, I thank you lots for this nice plugin!
Best regards,
Timo
I just sent you a donation, as I've used glitch on several recording projects in the last few months. I have not scratched the surface yet, although the lack of preset support makes it hard to leverage my work…..
So consider my $$ a vote for preset support….
Great work in any case!
thanks!

Just wanted to thank you for a brilliant VST! I use it quite a bit and have yet to run into a situation that calls for a feature not already present in the 1.3 release. I'm not sure how you pulled that off but it's no small accomplishment!
I used multiple instances to mutilate this song for a remix contest:
http://www.indabamusic.com/submissions/show/12782
I'm especially pleased with the little bit of sickness at the end. :-D
Less in-your-face use in this remix:

Not artists I'd normally be interested in, but I like the challenge turning them into something I like.
Some of my music here (more than one use this VST):

Thanks again, Kieran! Looking forward to your future releases.
It's been almost 3 years now, and heads are STILL using this plugin on the regular. That right there is a testament to how sick this Plugin really is, man. You don't have to look far to see what kind of effect this VST alone has had on the electronic music soundscape, all genres.
Oh, and backing up what Timo said above… the parameter automation Ableton. I've stopped trying to figure it out myself, and just basically worked around it by bouncing the track down with Glitch running over it and splicing the section back into the main project. It works, but it's a pain in the ass. If you could automate the pattern bank switches in Ableton, that'd be DOOOOOOPE! =D
Kieran, your last comment is the best news I received in a long time. I just switched back to the dark side (PC) to get a piece of the Glitch cake… just to realise it's not Cubase 4 compatible…
I'm not going to stress you by saying you should hurry up – I'm gonna be waiting nice and patiently. REALLY looking forward to that update :-)
Cheers!
Glitch is the most amazing and super-fresh-up-plugIn i've ever worked with in my 15 years being a digital musician! Thanks so much for this Plug! I've programmed alot in MSP to get those stuff, but this is just ALL in ONE! Great work!
GreetZ and alot respect to YOU!
DiggnitY
Glitch is one of the most used VSTs in my music! It's freaking amazing and the GUI so well lain out! :D
It could definitely be more awesome though with the support for automation in multiple DAWs like FL Studio and Ableton, and having a graphical filter or similar (with the possibility of automating it as well).
How's it going guys…….
Kieran I really appreciate what you've done by making this wonderful software free… People like you are THE FUTURE in a multi-conglomerate-whored-out-anything-for-the-almighty-dollar world. I personally do not use Glitch (as I am a Logic 9 on Mac user) but I do use similar programs which I payed BIG $$$ for…. All you downloaders: you're getting the deal of a lifetime from Kieran who probably put way more time into this program for all of us for nothing!!!! If money is time then this guy is definitely getting jipped for how many are downloading without donating. Think of it this way if you work a 9-5 job and you make say 10$ an hour and you go and buy something worth 100$…. That's ten hours of your life!!!! Probably more because Uncle Sam has to get his cut out of your paycheck too!
ON TO THE IMPORTANT THING: ALL YOU MAC USERS CAN USE THIS PROGRAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ON TO THE IMPORTANT THING: ALL YOU MAC USERS CAN USE THIS PROGRAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ON TO THE IMPORTANT THING: ALL YOU MAC USERS CAN USE THIS PROGRAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ON TO THE IMPORTANT THING: ALL YOU MAC USERS CAN USE THIS PROGRAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THERE IS A SITE HERE : http://www.fxpansion.com/index.php?page=5
THAT MAKES A WRAPPER PROGRAM THAT ALLOWS YOU TO USE VSTS AS A AU (AUDIO UNIT) OT RTS. I HAVE SPOKEN TO MANY PEOPLE AS TO WHETHER OR NOT THIS WRAPPER WORKS (IT BETTER….AFTER ALL IT'S ABOUT 100$) AND THEY ALL SAY GLITCH DOES WORK INSIDE THIS WRAPPER BY FXPANSION!!!!!!!!!! SO IF YOU DO END UP BUYING THE WRAPPER FOR A 100$ MAKE SURE YOU THROW SOME BANK AT KEIRAN TOO FOR DOING WHAT HE DOES. HE IS OBVIOUSLY VERY DEDICATED TO MUSIC AND FURTHERING THE EVOLUTION OF SOUND. HE'S A SAINT AND DESERVES MORE THAN HE GETS. I AM IN NO WAY AFFILIATED WITH HIM, NEVER MET HIM, AND THIS IS MAYBE MY SECOND TIME TO HIS SITE….. LET ME TELL YOU THAT HE'S PROBABLY A REALLY GREAT GUY IF SOMEONE LIKE ME HAS TO TYPE UP SOMETHING THIS BIG GIVING CREDIT TO A GUY I'VE NEVER MET IN MY LIFE WHOM I DIDN'T EVEN DOWNLOAD THIS PROGRAM FROM!!!!!!!!! SO BESIDES THE KARMA HE RECEIVES FOR HIS ASTONISHING WORK LATER HELP HIM OUT NOW WITH A FEW BUCKS AND I'M SURE HE WILL COMPENSATE ALL OF US LATER WITH MORE GREAT PROGRAMS.
@Andrew: I appreciate your support and enthusiasm! Unfortunately I have to tell you that the FXpansion wrapper does not work with Windows VST plugins – it is only designed for Mac VST plugins. Even though the VST format is available (for developers to use) on both Windows and Mac, each operating system handles things in a slightly different way and therefore requires its own unique binary file. A Windows VST plugin will not work directly on Mac, and likewise for Mac VST plugins on Windows.
I'm sorry kieran….I am going to have to verify my sources again…. I thought I was told by two different people that in fact the wrapper did cooperate with your program. Sorry to be misleading, I was trying to open up an entirely new opportunity for you and your hard work to mac users. By all means delete or edit my post as needed to get rid of the misguided info….However, keep up the great work man…. I AM ROOTING FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Kieran,
Thanks for the wonderful plugin and the latest update. I have been using it a few years now and for some reason the plugin will sometimes shutdown Ableton Live 7 at any given time. Not a complaint, but just a note to let you know!
Keep up the good work!
Respects
Thank's very much for this instrument ! I love it !
Hi Kieran,
This plugin is easily the most talked about VST effect on the web…I just picked it up, but unfortunately I have a rather crippling issue that I have not figured out how to resolve :/
I load it up fine, and the GUI flashes then goes gray screen. If I initialize it all the knobs and parameters appear, but the rest is grayed out until something activates it (like me clicking in a general area and managing to hit a button).
The sound seems to work just fine but the lack of knowing what I am doing is a bit of a problem ;)
If you have any input I'd appreciate it!
By the way, I am using the VST -> RTAS wrapper…So hopefully that is not the issue. If anyone using the same setup has any input, that would also help.
Thanks Kieran
Recently I'v noticed that dblue glitch doesn't work correctly with cubase 5.1 :( It worked for me well with cubase 3 but now (with the 5th ver. ) i simply can't use it. Could you check it, please? :)
Hi Kieran,
Wanna thank you for your last upadte ( 05 ) now the plug works well with cubase 5, and he is pretty stable ( no crash for the moment )
Many Many Many thanks for your professionnal work…
Regards from France,
Yves
hi, what is the CC for dblue stretch, thx in advance.
It doesn't have any MIDI functionality since it's just a basic prototype. It only has the standard VST plugin parameters which you should be able to control in your sequencer host.
thx kieran, i wasnt sure about the cc, excellent tool u have here, awesome, nothing like it anywhere, been waiting along time for a vst like this, ill be donating.
Hi Kieran,
I wanted to start off by saying that you have made a wicked and amazing VST plug-in! It's so simple, straightforward and fun to use! :D
I would like to simply note that if I start utilizing 3+ instances of Glitch within an FL Studio project: on reload and playback, the DAW sadly crashes while attempting to process the VST plugin, or all the instances of the plugin will just stop working. :(
Regards,
-Joël
I'm sad to hear that you won't be making a Mac version anytime soon, but at the same time I can understand why it's on the bottom of your priority list. I am wondering however, if you are considering making some sort of a stand alone version? If you were able to do this, then at least Mac users could use it with bootcamp (fusion, parallels, etc.).
Any plans to do something like that?
Hi,
I really wanted to see if I could make use of this plugin, Just wanted to know if it can be used w/ Magix Music maker 16. I know it is not the best but all I could afford. I have been able to use other VST or VSTi but nothing shows up when I input the plugin path. Thank you so much.
don't know if anybody will be able to help me here, but I'm trying to assign parameters to MIDI so I can automate them in FL studio and having no luck. I've got a keyboard controller linked to a MIDI out, but when I right click on a parameter and tweak the controller Glitch doesn't recognise it… is there a particular CC controller number I should be using?
Cheers,
leakeg.
(AMAZING program by the way, really having fun with it!)
@leakeg: Some hosts don't send MIDI data to VST effects by default, so you might have to create a MIDI track and link that to Glitch, or set up some other kind of special MIDI routing to get it working. I'm not very familiar with FL Studio myself, but you might be better off just using the normal parameter mapping features instead of Glitch's MIDI learn. Look in the FL Studio help files for the "last tweaked parameter" feature. This lets you capture the last parameter you changed in the VST plugin and then map it to something else.
thanks for the reply Kieran! it's really appreciated.
oh yeah, by the way, using "last tweaked parameter" worked perfectly! Much easier than the way I was (trying) to do it too. Cheers!
What a great surprise on the new update with native live midi capability…
before i was running a chain selector on my live set with about 8 versions of glitch being triggered on and off for specific effects – worked great and not a single crash, but now things should be a lot less complicated
a humble donation comin your way
Great plugin, although I may have found a bug? If I switch patterns really fast it crashes the application and plugin. Tried it in FruityLoops, Sonar, and Cubase… maybe my processor can't handle it, I dunno but thought I would share that info with you. Otherwise it's a dream plugin come true. Keep up the great work.
Boy, I just LOVE this plug-in! It's 100% custumable and it never bothered me with bugs.
Thank you so muck Kieran. (you can hear my glithc results on myspace page, for example track called Recon Part I)
Hey man,
thank you so much for this amazing plugin:)
cheers boris
echo whatever anyone else said favorably about this plugin ;)
two feature request questions:
- can you implement MIDI PCs? I'd love to be able to have native support within the VST for different programs (aside from the templates/patterns)
- can you tint or "underline" the random effect icons so that I know what effect is going to play for the randoms?
thanks, and again: this VST is beyond the fathomable reasoning of doubt, ascending somewhere into delicious delerium… and simply… fun (when used properly, and not-quite-so-obviously).
Hi,
Before I say anything , would like to say Glitch is an amazing creative tool, and its really good of you to make it free. ..
At the moment though the latest update just isn't working at all though in cubase 4 for me (sorry to say). A lot of the rotary controls are completely missing (all the filters down at the bottom) and and the rotary knobs which are there are cut off or bunched up together nearer the top of the Gui. Wish it wasn't so as I just realized what a great vst this is. The last version is visually all there but still pretty unstable for me, causing cubase to completely crash, so will be using with a wrapper.
I can send you a screenshot if it you'd like (?)
Thanks for making it though, as its still an amazing vst!!
Oliver
Kieran – excellent plugin I have been using for several years – many thanks & best of luck…
con todos mis respetos considero que eres un genio, desde españa un oleeeeee.
i wrote this post on the glitch comments page, but i realized that it wasn't the right place to have a response.. :)
"i still have some problems with synchronizing the steps in live when using it over complexly routed trax ( grouping etc). i use both custom and oem drivers, but it does seem to be related to the audio buffers used for internal routing in the host… it is 80 ms (!) shifted backwards, that's a lot… i downloaded the very first version ( the one with the flanger) and there was a "timing" knob that solved my problem, and gave me new hints for further ideas…. could you please add it to the new or to the current version?
thanks for everything,i got addicted to your plugin!
enrico"
dude, thank you so much, u don't know how much of an inspiration this is to me!! im running a guitar through it at it sounds CRAZY!!!!!!!!
Hey guys asking for a MAC version … you have Logic Pro … for us without a nice MAC, we are super grateful to this developer …
This is his hobby people … he has a job to pay the bills, and he has a life … don't be expecting him to change stuff at your beck and call …
Give him props, because he has done f–king fantastic at this … and bugger off …
This plug-in is exactly what I was looking for. It's been working just fine and I've had no issues. Thank you so much for creating this much needed software.
I used Glitch in my song Tackle Box and plan to use it in future tracks.
I will soon donate to your creation when I have some extra cash.
peace.
This is by far the best effects VST I have ever had the pleasure of using. I use it with almost everything I do now. Amazing work and I definitely hope to see more from you.
Any plans for other VSTs in the future?
Superb plugin, now version 1.3.5 works perfect on Cubase 4!
Glitch is a great program and I have been using it since 06… lately I have been experiencing long glitch load times in Cubase and FL, once a song loads everything runs great for that track, but when I load something else it starts all over…I have deleted and reinstalled and I am still having the same problems… I have not changed anything in my system for a couple years either…am I missing something when I erase my memory? I have a feeling something went corrupt in Cubase and FL (*sigh*) or is it something else? love the program, just wish things went back to the way they were
not working in Cubase5.5 (64bit) :-(
Hi, wondering if anyone else has had problems with getting this to read the Automation in Cubase (SX 2 to be more specific). I create a series of Patterns for use in certain parts of the track, I then set the automation to switch the pattern and read as it's going along. BUT it just ignores the automation. IF it does read it (On odd occasions) it's usually totally out of sync.
So does anyone know a nice clean cut way to switch the patterns at different points of the songs. I've tried to do something with MIDI and I can't even get it to recognize a thing. I can switch it on / off throughout the song okay, which sorta works. But changing patterns in Cubase SX2… nothing.
I am a dubstep producer, and I have to say that this is by far one of the best VST plug-ins that I've ever had the opportunity to use, not to mention that it's free. Thanks a lot!
Great plugin, something i was searching for a long time.
Check out what i made with it in Reaper:

hey Kieran,
don't know if anyone had this problem as well, but when I upgraded from FL studio 8 to 9, the glitches changed slightly when I exported to wav, even they sounded the same when listening in the program.
also you probably get a shit load of these, but here's a blissed out psychedelic track I made where I used dblue glitch for a bit:
http://soundcloud.com/leakeg/tempered-moments
cheers again for the most excelled software!
-leakeg.
Hi Kieran,
I'm Twelve and i use fl studio 9 to produce music. I am having a problem with Glitch VST. When using it, it creates static even when the instrument that is playing does not have Glitch assigned to it. When i click the button to turn Glitch off, the problem is solved but
Whoops… Anyways, the problem is solved, but i no longer can use the effect! In the next update it would be nice if you could try to fix this. Maybe there is just something wrong with the audio settings? I don't know! thanks
Yeah. I love the VST the only thing is, is when I try to use it…my CPU sky rocekts and it starts to crackle. I just upgraded from 1gig of ram to 4gigs of ram. so that shouldn't be the issue. any advice?
