Glitch » Discussion

Please read this before posting your comments or asking any questions. Thanks!

If you hadn’t already guessed from the major lack of updates, the development of Glitch is on hold indefinitely (and has been for quite some time). I do plan to eventually continue development at some point – I have not abandoned it! – but, without going into too much personal detail, the last few years have been very stressful for me, and Glitch simply isn’t a priority in my life right now.

To everyone asking me to open source it: I genuinely appreciate your offers to help and your interest, but I’m sorry, it’s just not going to happen. Please believe me when I tell you – the source code isn’t even close to being portable. For anyone that’s curious: it’s coded in Object Pascal using Delphi, it relies on a bunch of Win32 stuff, and overall it’s a poorly structured, unoptimised mess!

To everyone asking about a Mac version: I hear you guys loud and clear, and I would love to make a Mac version, but I have no immediate plans to do so. I don’t own a Mac, I’ve never programmed for a Mac, and I do not have any plans (or money!) to buy one. There is so much stuff I need to improve and fix in the Windows version of Glitch first, before I can even start thinking about creating something for another operating system and plug-in format. I’m sorry to say that Mac simply isn’t a priority for me at the moment.

The only thing I can suggest is that you check out some other popular plug-ins which are available for Mac:

Please note: I am not associated with these products/companies in any way; I am simply providing the links here for your convenience.

Anyway… as I gradually figure things out in my personal life and get back into coding on a regular basis, I will do my best to squash the last remaining bugs in the plug-in and update it to VST 2.4 (sorry, I have no real interest in VST 3.0 at the moment). I will also focus on creating some small, single purpose effects – stuff that I can create more easily and in a more casual fashion, rather than some huge beast like Glitch that eats up all my free time (and sanity). I received quite a lot of requests to release single versions of the effects from Glitch, so that’s probably one of the first things I’ll do.

Feel free to continue leaving your comments here as usual, but please do not expect to see any updates anytime soon.

Cheers,
Kieran.

Intuitive and allows for user creativity…endless possibilities…Truly a unique plug-in!

are you going to make a mac version?

yeah..we need mac version… would be nice that its available for MAC :)
looks like nice plugin

WOW! I’ve tried several plugins/software in this category and this is a serious contender! Devine Machine, Beat Repeat, and Replicant watch out, this one’s going for the K.O. How’s about a MAC version????

Thanks for sharing your wonderful efforts Kieran! Although now I am having a hard time getting back to my OTHER work, cuz I can’t stop playing with glitch! Yeah!

I am definitely going to use Glitch with Konkrete Impulse live!

Cheers

Rob Herman
Konkrete Impulse

Underfull…Top plug. Let´s you really create.

Thaks for sharing.

who made this? or what company?
i cant believe its freeware

aLJar3d: I made it. That’s why it’s featured on my website :)

Thanks for all the comments everyone. As far as the Mac is concerned, I’m afraid I have to disappoint you for now. I simply do not have the resources or ability to make it happen yet, so there will be no Mac version appearing anytime remotely soon. My only intentions at the moment are to focus on what I’m already familiar with (ie. Windows), to continue developing Glitch into a more mature product, and to hopefully generate some business based around it. If things become more stable in the future then I will certainly do more research into other platforms, but right now I just can’t afford to have the extra distractions eating up my time.

Kieran: I know of a freeware plugin developer who commonly ports Windows VST plugins to Mac VST and AU. If you don’t have the resources to port to the Mac, maybe you could get in touch with them. I’m sure they’d be interested in helping you…

http://www.apulsoft.ch/

My advice… With Windows market share declining and Mac market share continually on the rise, (not to mention the disproportionately high level of Mac “creative types” i.e. musicians) I would seriously regard the OS X platform as more than just a “distraction.”

I support Travis’ opinion. It would be great if you could contact this developers for Mac and give them a try to make the mac version. Personally, I am electronic music artist and I know many famous names from scene that are using mac for production and gigs. It would be really nice to have this great plugin also available on mac :)

Guys… I appreciate your advice about the Mac market, and I totally understand that it’s important to have representation on multiple platforms, but please hear me when I say that it just isn’t feasible yet. I’m not just making up some crap to avoid the situation; I am genuinely not ready to make *any* kind of move to Mac yet. When I say “distractions” I’m not simply dismissing the entire Mac platform, so I’m sorry if you got the wrong impression there. What I mean is that Windows and Object Pascal are all that I feel comfortable working with right now, and I still have a lot of work to do before Glitch will be ready for other possibilities, so anything else I try to take on is just going to get in the way of my immediate goals.

The current version of the plug-in is still a very rough prototype in my eyes; full of stupid mistakes and limitations due to my inexperience when I started the project. I’m in the process of rewriting the entire thing from scratch because the old code is a complete nightmare to maintain. I’m not even going to *think* about handing anything over to another developer until I have a new, clean, and efficient code base to work with. I see no point in getting someone to port the current version when it is incomplete and will soon be obsolete anyway.

Wow! This is easily one of the most innovative, useful and functional tools I’ve ever seen! Congrats on the great work…
keep more vsts coming, please…

Thanks for sharing!

awesome, awesome plug-in man – i now feel a bit stupid for spending years of my life making drums sound like that through hours of waveform editing! now i’ve got a button i can press in logic that sends everything mental. cool!

how do you add it to fruity loops?
after adding it to vst-plugins, where do i find it or add it to fx?

Glitch is rocking my face off!!! Great work!

First, your plug is amazing. Fantastic work. Thanks a lot.
I just reformat my computer and stupidly I forgot to keep your timestrech and your downgrader ( the one that change the quality ). I can’t find them anymore on the web. I like them because they are simple ( a few buttons ) and I used them in my live set. I still use your glitch and I know that the timestrech and downgrader are integrated but I really like to have them also seperatly.

Is it possible to have them again ( please, please, please ) ?

Thanks a lot, and I am really impress by your coding and sound skills.

TM

Heres a link to a track I recorded some time back using Glitch: http://audiosparx.com/sa/play/play.cfm/sound_iid.253961

Woulda let you know before but I only just stumbled upon your site :-)

OMG! Perfect work! I will use it on my LP for vocal in some places! Thanx!

This is definitely one of the coolest plugins I’ve ever had the joy of downloading. This thing is Alec Empire’s “The Destroyer”, rolled into a single plugin.

Absolutely brilliant.

realy good fx and sound. i’m using it a week now and i LOVE IT…………

keep up the good work.

been usin ableton for my productions for some time, and mess a lot with the Beat Repeat for those stuttering glitchy type fx… but this is in a whole different league and will defo appear in my new work..
many thanks for this great tool!!

ths platform is F_ING!! awesome! i have used it in friends studios and heard a lot of work only made better from GLITCH! but unfortunately this program is unavailable to me (as i am a mac user) but does any know of any other really good free platforms for the mac? anything similar or anything at all i.e. drum machine, sequencers, anything? thanks for the help!

hey kieran. im having trouble finding the info about midi mapping.
there are some parameters already mapped by default when i turn knobs on my m-audio controller, but im having trouble reassigning it the way i want. i read something on your site before about right clicking the parameter to highlight it, but its still not working for me. please help.
sorry. im very sure this is a redundant question.
thanks again.

Glitch is an amazing plugin, its great i use it for most of my productions.

Great work guys keep it up.

Digital Bass.

Really impressive !! And you are giving this for free ?? I’m without the words …

Hey I really dont blame the guy….Mac is a completely different beast than PC. I really like the older version of Glitch as well….sort of an orange and black look to it….Wonder if he made that one as well….something about drawing those colors seems more distracting than reading what the effect is in text.
Biggest Glitch in Glitch (pun intended) is it doesnt stay on when you start up a new project. Really bugs me to have to go in and turn on all the instances of Glitch again. Oh that and it likes to eat up my cpu for lunch. Besides that its awesome!

Btw Kieran if you need a beta tester for any new versions I am willing and ready to help out. I use it often enough.

Hey there,
Been using this plug for some time now, and I must say hands down the best freeware plug around!
That said, I’ve been running into some timing issues when I moved from CubaseSX3 on XP to Cubase4 on Vista. The same projects have different glitch results (not set to random of course), as in the timing is screwed.
Anyone else experienced the same things?

Tnx!

Only comments I have to that is ditch Vista!!!
Stick to XP sp2 for writing music.

Hey! I just recently found this plugin on youtube and all over the net, it looks AMAZING! I really want to use it for a few upcoming projects not to mention live!! I just downloaded the plugin but i cant get it to work on my FL setup… it keeps saying that it cannot load an effect in a channel… is this because ive got an older version of FL? I;m running Image-Line FL6, someone please help! I really want this vsti!!

Thanks

:))))))))
GREM….
you silly wanker…

dblue Glitch is not a VSTi… it’s a VSTfx (effect, not an instrument)

it goes into the mixer… you can’t just add it as a channel
- it doesnt generate sound, it modulates sound

so you gotta pass audio through it

open the mixer and add it as an effect !!!

I want this sooo badly for my mac as an AU plugg !!
Please let me know!
Alex

please….

mac version !

very very nice vst ! i must say, ive been struggling to get this stuff done manually, and this vst just does everything for me so easily. maybe the ppl ive heard with glitch in their songs are actually using this vst :O hahaha

this is a high end plug… thank you soooo much for putting it out here for us to use… I only have a macbook pro, but programs like this i cant do without… luckily I have Parallels and bootcamp… thx again…

Albert Joseph

anybody know how to map this to a midi device?

Brett: Make sure MIDI is enabled in your host and is routed into Glitch itself (how to do this varies from host to host, obviously). To activate MIDI learn in Glitch simply right-click on a knob/button/etc. When MIDI learn is active you’ll see a white border appear around the control you selected, then you need to tweak something on your MIDI controller (which sends MIDI CC data) to assign it. If the assignment was successful the white border will disappear and the control in Glitch will begin to respond. To delete a MIDI assignment you need to right-click on a control, then right-click again without touching your MIDI controller. Pretty much all of the important stuff can be mapped, but depending on which host you’re using it may be easier to map the parameters directly with the host’s native functions rather than with Glitch’s MIDI learn. As with all things in the plug-in, MIDI is an area I plan to improve greatly in the coming versions.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

My PC is making some f’ing amazing sounds. This is some sort of black magic.

I say Kieran should get the Nobel Prize.

NEEDS MO4R MAC COMPATIBILITY!!!!
guess im just going to have to run it off of VMware Fusion lol lame

NEEDS MORE MAC COMPATIBILITY on February 7th, 2008 at 03:07

hey there, glitch sounds great-, love it… but what about a manual? always been a RTFM dude…:)

This Plug in is brillent……squarepusher in a box….to make a good track still requires talent but this sure does help!! Great work! N

i cant open it..what do i do?

hey kieran, i sent you an email a while back asking for help getting glitch to run on a mac, and now i want to apologize for that email probably being one of thousands you’ve received on the topic. You’ve definitely got a large following to this puppy and i congratulate you for it man. I very much wish you luck and hope you work all the bugs out of the system and are eventually happy with the coding so that you can consider porting it to mac, as – and i hate to harp on – im fairly certain we’ll all have to hunt you down with pitchforks if you dont sometime in the next 5 years. jokes jokes. For a brilliant piece of programming such as this, i am prepared to wait, and i am very excited to see the end result. Im sure many of the posters here also, wouldn’t mind paying a small to medium fee for purchase of any future mac version. free is good though, free is awesome. just giving you a little incentive. ha. best of luck man. you’re the most wanted man in music.

yo again, ive just spent the last 15 minutes searching other forums and posts on this topic, so now i apologize again for seemingly being the millionth person who has offered money and whatnot. i read your statement on the ableton forum. honestly best of luck man. you must have some ridiculously awesome day job to halt you from making squillions on the net from one plugin. haha. ill be back here every day for the next few years waiting for v2. good luck dude.

AMAZING PLUG!
Please port to MAC, must have soon…
Great Job

many of my friends laugh at me for choosing PC over Mac, i tell them theres more good free VSTs on PC and they tell me free stuff is shit, then i wave this plugin at them and feel happily vindicated. please dont port this to Mac!!!

WOOW !!!! GREAT PLUG !!!!

HI DBLUE,

I just downloaded the plug in the other day and it’s probably the most important creative plug that I own now.. I can’t believe I spent 7 1/2 hours on it… It doesn’t get boring.

Mark

hey, can somebody please tell me how to add it exactly as an effect on fl s…
i still can’t get it worked, and i’m getting really pissed.
would really love to get started with this plugin.
i can’t figure it out…

gtz auduzi

Love it but….Not avalable 4 MAC????!!!

shut up about MAC.. you got it ALL on the MAC anyway! use that multi OS thing and setup bindows on your MAC and then you cun use glitch on your MAC!! fu*king MAC… they do ALL the legwork, they write the fucking songs for you on the MAC….they create the graphics in about 5 clicks.. NO skills required on the MAC using logic or pro-tools or uhh garage band!

staff terrier on February 9th, 2008 at 23:29

I want make Something similar от my Modular G2. You could not help me detailed description of these effects??? Thanks

I Love It.. You should be awarded..!!
Thanx for this amazing plugin…

Hello Kieran, is there a way to tempo-syncronize Glitch with one’s VST-sequencer? Best wishes, Wolf

Wolf: It should do that automatically. Which host are you using?

A friend made me watch the demo for Glitch on youtube a few months back… he said I would LOVE it. I am fairly new to making beats and working with all this music software… I am working only from Reason and have some crazy delicious funky beats that would become soooooooooo hot if i could mess with it in glitch. i have a pc as well… but there is no music programs on there… ive been reading and reading and im still confused… can someone help me? i cant wait till i can figure this out… kieran you are a god!! :)

where can i get the previous version of glitch like 1.2.2

digital junkie on February 10th, 2008 at 22:18

Hi! :(

I don’t know why but this VST makes serious crashes in CUBASE 4???
I have mail U about this before…. Friends of mine have the same problem!!!
It won’t open? I would love to use it but I can’t? I don’t even know how U even made a VST program that makes this kind of errors and crashes? The GUI doesn’t even open either?
Your VST make CUBASE 4 crash instant and CLOSE CUBASE 4.1.2!!!!

WARNING!!!!!!!!
Users with CUBASE 4!!! Be aware that this VST might make your Computer hang and crash seriously!!!! I hate to say this but this VST is not supported in CUBASE 4!!!!

Digital Junkie Ive got the earlier version of it. A few of the effects are different in it and for some reason I slightly prefer the older version. Let me know if you still need it.

try a difefrent stuff! glitch reduces the way to learn effects functionality and audio edit…thats my opinnion.

For all those Mac users out there…. take a look at “Major Malfunction:

http://www.defectiverecords.com/majormalfunction

Says its for Ableton Live only, but it actually works fine as an AU in many other apps too…

Hello guys,
it seems that glitch could work on a mac. My brother used it simply with ableton live 6 and it works fine. Just put the same dll as the windows one into your vst folder and perhaps there is a chance i personnaly don’t have a mac so I dont now precisely what todo …

antipanik.

O.O

Cool.

Kieran,
just reminding you not to over-design the new thing :)

cheers
g.

Anyone else agree that if there was a Pay for Mac UB version they’d be up for it?

I’d definitely make a purchase as there is nothing as good as this currently for OSX

g/eesn: Heh, I’ll try to keep it under control.. PS. Love your music :)

what an amazing beast… =)

it’s a pity, that this piece of software is designed to run only under windows. but i know the difficulties about porting software to another platforms. i also write software in delphi, for example my cpc emulator: http://www.wincpc.ch is entirely written in delphi. porting your plugin to mac will result in a complete rewrite… aarrgggh.

i switched to mac a few weeks ago, fortunately my “old” windows music computer is still active. =)))

thumbs up

GSUS CRIST!

Thank you, this is freakin amazing, the MIDI learn is such an awesome feature…why aren’t you working for one of the bigs? You should be, you could teach them a thing or 100 about how to create something that is simple and user friendly..cheers from the great white north.

Please, make an Mac version!!!

Seems like a cool plug-in. Sounds awesome.

Please make it possible for Mac users to have it.

first – great plug. i am a mac user and am not here to say “please make for mac, yadda yadda…” i have a windoze partition for web testing and have music apps on there as well – gotta see what’s on the other side of the fence too ;^)

people – there are ways to achieve very similar, if not the same, effects without a specific plugin. first, there is reaktor with its library PLUS the user library. second, there is livecut and with some good automated controlling, that plugin can be really nice. third is ableton itself (for those that use ableton). with clip launch settings, follow actions and varying start points, sample playback speeds and transpositions, you can come up with very cool stuff.

it’s all about the way you get there.

qu.one

i should also say that i didnt mean to draw anyone away from this plug – just trying to alleviate the mac thing…

qu

Thanx this bluggo is rocking,,,

Lovely work with your plug!!!

Absolulely brilliant plugin…. this has to be the best fx plugin i have ever used, great work kieran

amazing. it’s a shame you don’t intend to build a mac version…

mac! mac! mac!

^___^

Really really awesome!! It is quite incredible that a certain DIGItal sound DESIGN company is selling a plugin for $395 that cannot even begin to compete with this?

WELL DONE!!!

bootcamp. i think the guy’s aware of the mac issue by now, i’m sure if he could he would.

beautiful plugin! sadly, very unstable in ableton :(
…i want to dj with it… but do not trust it yet. props on the work though!
ps. – hope you get a more stable ver soon

A really great tool. Thanks a lot. It helps me make music that i feel is better.

Thanks again mate.

This looks fantastic Kieran, Mac version pleeeeeeeeese !!

Kieran,

Thanks for the great plugin. It is definitely in my
top 10 plugs of all time. I mean that sincerely and genuine.
You’re right up there with the VSTi ABL2 by Audiorealism.
[303 clone that blows ReBirth out of the geyser!]
I definitely appreciate the plugin for all that it is. Perhaps
the foul coding that you slave your brain over when you think
upon it is a feature and not a bug. :) Think about how much
richer, warmer, and organic anologue synths can sound compared
to digital. Perhaps glitchy sourcecode add to the thing itself.
Just a mental meandering for you.
Hey guys… lay off hounding him to do a Mac and whatnot.
I definitely understand the frustration, but you are getting
some good VST’s for IDM and glitch coming out now too. This
guy’s only got so much time in his day, just like we do. I certainly
understand the time constraints in this world with all that we
are bombarded with in the information realm each day. It’s
serious Future Shock [excellent modern philosophy on the
seemingly increasing speed of culture and society as a whole.
See book by Toffler].
Kieran, is there a way to copy the preset settings on the
Glitch, and paste them? Say… copy preset 1 to preset 2?

-Randy Colby
aka Wreckless Abandon

Hey Kieran in your next version could you go back to making the edits with little blocks of text on a grid as opposed to the color blocks on the grid?
btw I love your plugin and always use it in my music.
http://www.myspace.com/liquidloops

OK so I’ve been running this Glitch VSTfx in ableton and am loving it, works great for mashing up melodies as well as it does for beats….

Just one problem, I’ve linked the pattern selector to one of the x/y controls in ableton and laid everything out for export to audio. Then when I render to disk the FX I’ve made with the Glitch VST doesn’t come through…

Why?! Its’ driving me nuts!! Any advice would be extremely well appreciated.

I would pay good money for a mac-version in AU and/or RTAS-format. (Yeah, I know… keep working on cleaning up that code…)

I’ve played with a lot of VST’s I’s or fx ;) And i’m damn picky on what to use now. And i’m not one for posting. But this is so good i had to say something. I’m very grateful for this. Its a very good peice of engineering. I loaded it up put it with some string samples, played with it, got a great sound out of it. I haven’t been able to make any music lately, but this got me very inspired. I had the idea of this been intergrated to spectrasonics Omnisphere thats coming out. Maybe you’ve already connected with them ;).

Again, top notch!!

Para

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE…….PLEASE do a MAC version I would pay good money for this!!

A mac-version would indeed be extremely appreciated. And a proper fee is defenitly worth considering. Of course on an intelbased mac it would be possible to run an application both under OSX and windows, but that usually requiers extra installs etc.

Anyway: great job, and keep up the spririt!

A fantastic creation, please make a Mac version too and keep up the good work!

IT’S TRULY AMAZING :D this really is a very good and easy2understand plugin :D

Could I make a single suggestion for the plugin?
Could you implement a feature which would let me toggle off specific effects during the random mode? For example I want to have my loops play with random effects, BUT I don’t want modulation or tape-stop. Is there already a way to do that?

biosyn: You can set the probability parameter for each effect to make it more/less likely to be chosen at random. You can find the parameter just below the effect name, next to Init, Rand, Solo, etc., and it defaults to a value of 50. Set it to 0 and that effect will never be chosen at random. Set it to a higher value in relation to the others and it will be chosen at random more often. Etc.

Kieran, is there a way to copy and paste the presets?
(So I don’t have to recreate the same one all over again
just to make a subtle progression).

What programs specifically are recommended for this plugin?

What are the best programs to use this with? I tried to use it in vegas to see if it would work with an audio track of a video I was working on but while the plugin was said to be compatible when I applied it it didnt effect the audio despite it being applied :(

Could somebody plz explain to me what “Len” does under “Envelope” of the old version of Glitch?
For the life of me I cannot figure it out.

Sorry I think it might actually be “Lens” ?? Not sure….my vst’s are on another drive that I dont have access to right now.

The envelope applies a very basic volume fade to each step in the sequencer, which you can use to create interested gating effects. “Len” simply adjusts the length of the envelope, or in other words, how fast the volume fades out.

Wow….simply amazing…. :)

Q: all the commands are MIDI assignable to knobs? I’m going to buy a M-Audio Evolution UC 33, and i want to use Glitch in live session….can i have support, please?

Q2: Single modules are disposable separately? If don’t, please develop it!!!!

Thanx again for keeping ur stuffs free!

well hot damn old man, you’re on fire!

lawls to the slew of mac requests.

gj ninja!

Great! :)

I use it from the first version till now (of course with that name!), it simply has something that others in the same league doesn’t have, but I also prefer the way the fx section sounds in the older version (1.2.1).

–Glitch

Absolutely,
Older version is both easier to use and sounds better imho.

hi kieran,

thanks a lot for the great toy, i have so much fun fun fun fun….. ;-)

ps: midi learn would be a nice feature in this tool

Great VST!

I understand if this question sounds annoying, but… Will Glitch compile on the Linux VSTSDK?
I’d love to use it in combination with renoise you see.

Is there a standalone version of this for PC?

Haha,

I think if there is one more MAC comment, he’s gonna lose his patience and shut this page down!

On a final note,

MAC!

c super!!!!

I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this, but in the latest issue of Ravin-Eye magazine, internationally known hardcore producer DJ Gammer wrote a very helpful producing tips article, focusing mainly on the amazing Glitch VST. Its great to know that such godly producers as Gammer use this awesome tool!

Thought you guys might find that interesting lol

Thanks again Kieran!

-Grem

fantastic! any chances of this plug being fashioned as an audio unit for macs?

Kieran any chance you bringing back the flanger in future versions? In fact go all out man!! Have like 20 effects to choose from! A nice bit crusher, phaser, flanger, distortion, and maybe even an lfo would be interesting. Cheers to the great plug!

Very handy plugin indeed. Though as you say it’s not the stablest thing in the world. Unfortunately when I try to really get the most from it – it crashes Ableton Live on me :( Tying to automate pattern changes in it is one in particular that always caused it to crash.

can’t wait to see the new cleaned up version if this is just the prototype.

Love the plug-in, thanks for giving it away! :]

Anyone know of a plugin like glitch that instead of using on a sequencer you can trigger each effect live on different controllers? I know this can be done with Ableton Live and Reaktor 5 without using plugins. I want something for FL Studio or a vst…

Anyone?

Please Im dieing for an answer! Get back to me here > noizviolation24@yahoo.com or http://www.myspace.com/thedebra

Hi Kieran

Glitch is out of this world as far as useability and simplicity. But its only PC (lol “not another person whinging” you say!)
I have read some of your postings in response to the Glitch porting to Mac. I am currently in discussion with some developers about either porting the source code from your Glitch if you would like to work with me on this, or creating a new version entirely.

I am also interested in expanding the features of the device to make it a one-stop Live performance tool for dj’s and producers. If you would like to respond to my email, I would be very eager to talk with you at the most convenient time for you.

Kind regards,

Adam

W0w, I’ve discovered glitch almost a year ago and I’m still being amazed by how strong it is, it turns a banality into something crazy in a few seconds, and if you take the time to carrefully customize glitch, you can reach your own unique sound!

all you need now is a mac version!

MAC!!!!!! MAC!!!!!! MAC!!!!!! MAC!!!!!! MAC!!!!!! MAC!!!!!! MAC!!!!!! MAC!!!!!! MAC!!!!!! MAC!!!!!!

I realise that you like the plug-in, guys, but shouting “MAC! MAC! MAC!” isn’t gonna make it happen any faster, it’s just gonna get very annoying. Please read what I have already said on this matter:

Hello there.

I just swtiched to a Mac from a PC and I am so disappointed that there is no MAC version of this VST, that was my most favorite! Can you please please please port this to a Mac version. And I’m not trying to annoying just expressing how wonderful your VST is, and there are many musicians going to macs. I’m got it because I’m about to start doing live performance, and I couldn’t have a PC that crashes 24-7.

I would like you to hear your VST in the works in my song spite, its at my Myspace. Grr. I need this beautiful VST.

http://myspace.com/breathehope

i agree with d lucchini…we are just showing our feelings re: an amazing plug you’ve created. i do use it on my pc and have it werking in cubase SX2, but my pc is a piece. i can just imagine how slick this plug would be on a mac.

but i had forgot to say thanks for such a sweet tool in my haste to ask for a mac v.

so….thanks much. fantastic job!

Kieran ignore them all….MAC sucks!!
You ppl need to realize that all this hype about making music on a mac is nonsense. There are SOOOO many more vst’s available for PC that it seems pointless to use a mac. Glitch is just yet another example.

Attention Mac Users: I used to run one but the fact is you CAN and WILL get much better freebie VSTs for PC. As well as this you can get Short circuit 1 + 2 VST sampler which is undoubtedly the best soft sampler on the market. Beats the crap out of Halion Kontakt and all the rest AN D ITS FREE JUST LIKE THIS EXCELLENT PLUGIN. I could laugh and try and belittle you, but I wont as I know how it feels looking on to the PC users all envious. The reason i went to PC is you can get anything for it. There is nothing in Mac world you cant get for PC but theres plenty on PC you cant get for mac.

AT the end of the day my music writing was MUCH MORE IMPORTANT than worrying about what computer and OS I used. think about it whats important to you?

So give the guy a break he cant be building plugs for MAC, this stuff takes thousands of man hours and its better he irons out some of the small issues rather than working on a Mac version because Ive seen it to many times when an indie developer gets sidetracked developing for both platforms. We all end up losing then because the plugin development goes at snail pace and ultimately the plugs get watered down.

Hopefully, you’re still taking ideas for your plugin, and I had already mentioned layering effects and a device-chain type setup to control what effects are triggered first, if layering happens.

Anyway, I found the Disable Transport function very useful for before I discovered I had to configure Glitch as a tempo-based effect in Cakewalk Project5. However, it gave me an idea. Would it be possible to enhance the transport and make it automated? For instance, backwards, pause, and forward buttons. So, it would still be possible for it to start automatically, but then you could go backwards or forwards in your sequence, or pause at an effect for a longer duration.

It’s make me freak out!!!

Another one here wanting to congratulate you on this amazing piece of work! Back in the ReCycle days I never used plugins like this – but THIS is IT!

By the way, do you know this record… discogs.com/release/185636 – Perhaps you should send the band (actually and sadly, the one remaining band member) a copy! ;-)

Finally, don’t let them talk you into wasting time on building a Mac version from scratch – focus on what’s already there!

BIG thanks!

Hi, I’m very new to this technology and own a mac. I was wondering if there are plug-ins similar to this one for mac–even though everyone has expressed that this program is much better than any mac-based program, I’d still like to know of even mediocre or dated (free) mac plug-ins.

Lovely!
Time well spent on your part!
Thank You Kindly!

firstly…thank you, Kieran, for providing the world with such a versatile, amazing tool! I’ve been using it for some time, but just got around to comment. Secondly, being primarily a mac user, the way around this issue is obviously creating WAV files of effected parts on my PC, and transferring into Ableton on the Mac…a bit time consuming, but with a plug-in this useful, it’s worth the effort!
Again, thank you!

Hi Kieran,
Just another message to say THANKS!!!
I discovered Glitch a few days ago and it’s what i’ve been searching for for years… it’s an amazing thing which is very userfriendly… great for live tricks or for programming…
However, sometimes it craches Ableton Live 7 when doing things on the GUI and the midi learn fonction doesn’t work when you’ve got another midi plug in the track…

There are few things to work on and this plug will be perfect!!!!

Thanks again for this one and for sharing it free!

a bientôt
Vinz

Thanks for the great noiss plugin!
Sound great,easy to use.

Maybe you can make more shit like this.
Something like Izotope Trash.

ya man…like I said before, I got this baby working in my “Muse Receptor”!
so that means I can use it with my mac…and with protools 7.4 too (vst-2-rtas).
runs smooth.
much props

Great plugin!! I’ve been searching from months for something like this one.

Can You add feature that allow to turn off the sequencer and play effects manually from triggers?? It vould be nice for live playing to turn on effect in the moment when You want it, without setting it in seq.

P.S: sorry for my english.

ooohhh yes. been waiting for something like this for a long time! bring on the glitching :)

must say well done to ya, and fair play to going to all the trouble.

You guys should be more patient, Kieran obviously knows that he has a great product here but it needs perfection. And perfection takes time, especially if you wanna do it right. So in stead of screaming for “mac mac mac!” you should give him some constructive critisism to perfect Glitch even more. It would not only motivates him but will make all his efforts worth while.
Kieran, keep up the good work and I will definetely wait for Glitch to mature. Goodluck on rewriting the code!

This is fantastic. I will pay once it’s final. You should add an Audio demo which shows Glitch using a melodic figure.

Craig Ramseur on March 21st, 2008 at 19:23

Kieran I had another idea for the next version.
Ive noticed from time to time I was to switch back and forth between to different speed of gates and the only way to achieve this is either lowering the speed of the retrigger and alternating between that and the gate or of course having a duplicate of the track and running 2 seperate instances of Glitch.
I think it would be sweet if you had a double up of each effect with different parameters for each.
That way if I want to go back and forth between 2 different speeds of Gate or whatever effect I can.
I suppose using automation would be another way of doing this as well however.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE……..THE MAC VERSION!!!

PLEASEEEEEE

MAC
MAC
MAC VERSION!!!

Holy shit MAKE THIS FOR AU ON MACCCCCC!!!!!

Glitch Lover on March 22nd, 2008 at 19:48

OK ALL YOU MAC PEOPLE who have been whinging about not having this on here… The time has finally come – THIS REALLY IS THE MOMENT YOU HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR!! ;)

Check out SUGAR BYTES ‘EFFECTRIX’ – It’s the closest thing to Glitch you’re gonna get so far… and it’s a plugin (not standalone)
It’s not freeware but it’s worth every penny… and there’s a demo you can play with!
No more need for exporting GLITCH’d up loops from the old PC. This is the one I promise

Respect to Kieran Foster for making one of the most inspirational bits of software in the last few years!

PS I don’t work for or know anyone at Sugar Bytes but I so happy to finally get this that I thought I’d better let y’all know… and I’m sure it will stop everybody bothering Kieran with the same old comments – Andy

Dude…. you are a legend.
ive been using this for the last week for a variety of differnt styles and effects, eg: layering a few in a send for different retrigs!
brilliant plugin and i will be keeping a keen eye on the new one you release for sale. Thanks again dude. Much respect.

kickass plugin!

even daft punk uses it in live shows. fucking awesome!

you should open some donating system, think people would really give some money for this.

fuckin hell, ive been havin mental block for ages now, i even re-built my studio and did some diy acoustic stuff, none helped me with my block. then this came along….. ive just tried it out 10 min ago and my heart is pumping very fast, the doors are starting to open now, thank very much you have really helped me out.

A million thanks for this wondeful and really useful plug-in :)
Don’t hesitate to give me a mail , i will send you a donation to support your work ;)

All the best from france !

Hi,

Your plugin is awesome — many thanks for creating it. One trouble I ran into when using it my sequencer (Tunafish) is that Glitch will loop after the first four beats, even if I have a piece of music with 16 beats in it. Any help if possible would be greatly appreciated; thank you once again for this very exciting plugin.

Hi Kieran

Does the Glitch plug-in work with Cakewalk Sonar? I’m running Sonar 6 Producer Edition and have installed Glitch v1.3.04 but nothing seems to happen when I attach the plug-in to an Audio track as an Audio FX. Am I doing something stupid or is Glitch just not compatible with Sonar?

Many thanks
Matt

Matt Simpson on March 26th, 2008 at 19:06

Matt you have to turn it on. Its a button in the upper left called transport I believe.

Actually, in Sonar you can just open the VST properties and configure it as a tempo-based effect then it’ll follow Sonar’s transport. It works the same way in Project5.

Oh I have to turn it on? Ha ha ha!

Thanks mate. There is a button called ‘Disable Transport’ which, when selected, makes the plug-in work in Sonar!

Matt Simpson on March 27th, 2008 at 19:54

Actually you’re right again. I’ve changed the plug-in properties so that the ‘Configure as tempo-based effect’ is selected and now the plug-in works without needing to change the ‘Disable Transport’ setting.

Thanks again!

Matt

Matt Simpson on March 27th, 2008 at 19:55

Now that I’ve got the plug-in working, is there a tutorial or user guide anywhere?

Matt Simpson on March 27th, 2008 at 20:03

hey, just wanted to say that Glitch is the shit! One thing though, in cubase sx3, if you ise 48/24 it’s a bit buggy. It works, although you need to restard the project often after inserting it, to see the GUI…
I’m sure this is a known bug, just wanted to add my little report….

Hi there. Great plugin!!! In Windows times i loved it!!!
I’m also missing a MAC version, so i tried to search an alternate solution.
You have to pay for it, but it also works on all platforms: EFFECTRIX

http://www.sugar-bytes.de/content/products/Effectrix/index.php

Love glitch. A mac version would be nice…

Very cool VST. I’ve used this quite allot and I’m amazed at what it can do! Good software.

Hi,
in Samplitude 10, i can not automate glitch.
When i touch a controller, samplitude write an automation curve, but glitch don´t receive.

Badass Pluggin!
It almost should be classified as a VSTi due to all the performance capabilities…

HOLY COW! You made this?! i’m very impressed! you should be a millionare allready!

this looks amaazing. you’ve done some things i’d LOOVE TO DO!
mannn

but…im sad! for some reason it aint working….WHYYYYYY!

please help me. someone….

when i scan it and select it after adding more channels it says “an instance of FL is allready running”

and when i select it it says “CANNOT LOAD EFFECT INTO CHANEL”

also..when i scan it… Kieran Foster’s amazing infention is in red…..tthat dont look to good.

Kieran Foster help me! I would be honored to use your invention!!!!

Hey Kieran!

First of all i just wanna say wot a fuckin awesome plug..and dont worry i aint gonna ask for a Mac version! Only problem is that ive tried on several occasions to download the plug from this page, but when i open it with winrar it always says “corrupt file” is this a common problem for anybody else? and is this the only place i can download it? Its just a little frustrating cuz ive been dying to use this plug but to no avail.

I’m willing to help you develop a mac version of this if you could send me the source code. What language did you use?

Matthew:

I do appreciate your (and everyone else’s) offer to help but, I’m sorry, I’m not going to simply give out the source code to a complete stranger. I may be releasing this particular version of the plug-in for free, but it is not an open source project, and it does not automatically mean that I am willing to share my code with the world. But all of that is really beside the point anyway…

As I have already stated here in previous comments (scroll up, all my comments are highlighted in blue), this version is just a rough prototype. It is unfinished, buggy, and needs to be *completely* redesigned from scratch, so it would be a total waste of time to port this version to any other platform since it is fundamentally flawed to begin with. On top of that, Glitch is written in Object Pascal using Borland Delphi, not C++ as most people assume, so it would not be a simple case of tweaking a few things and recompiling, it would literally require the whole thing to be rewritten. Once again, at this stage of development there’s no point.

The bottom line is that I will not be tackling the cross-platform issue properly until I have a completely rock solid version on Windows first. I know Windows, I know Delphi, I am comfortable with them and I work faster using them, so that is what I will continue to work with until I feel happy with the state of the plug-in. When I finally have a more complete, stable and bug-free product, only then will I feel comfortable enough to take it further; either by handing it over to another experienced developer that I have built up trust with, or by doing it myself if I feel up to the task.

If you are still genuinely interested in possibly helping out at some point in the future, and if you have enough experience working with both Object Pascal and C++, then feel free to send me more info about yourself and what sort of cross-platform projects you’ve worked on, etc. I will no doubt reach a point where I need help from other developers, but right now I’m only focused on getting the Windows version up to snuff.

many many thanks ::: For sure, your name will make histoty man :: congratulations!

I’ve been using Glitch in my music for a good while now and I also use it to create sound FX. It’s a perfect tool and I’m happy I found it in the internet jungle.

First i just want to thank you for the effort Kieran. Still keeping Glitch free when it’s used by so many serious composers/producers/DJ’s is quite unusual In today’s money-hungry software creating world. Thousand thanks wouldn’t be enough! :)

Now to my question.
Have you seen the Sugar Bytes Effectrix? —>> http://www.sugar-bytes.com/
Looks a bit like a rip-off…or are you involved in the progress?
Anyway, my question is: are you considering creating a “multitrack” interface?

Once again, many thanks for a great job done so far.

Hi, ive seen what this plug-in can do, ive installed it into my VST folder and Fruityloops can see it, but when i try add Glitch, it gives me a message ”cant load an effect into a channel”, what am i doing wrong? thanks

look for someone who can help you to put it on a mac, if you’re not able to do that alone!
forgot property and money, think at all smiles that you will creat on macuser faces !

gui le geek on April 2nd, 2008 at 18:57

Glitch is my favourite FX plug in and i would really appreciat e a MAc version of it.

I’d be more then willing to buy a commercial verion of this FX powerhouse.

I use FL Studio, and Glitch works great until I try to automate pattern switching. It works, but not for long. Eventually it causes the program to hang, and I have to start up at my last save. I hope this can be fixed because Glitch is one of the best plugins that I’ve come across. Keep up the great work.

hey boys / girls!

soon an alternative version of GLITCH for mac/win in the REAKTOR USER LIBRARY!

all the best

@All: Kieran commented on the Mac status below.

REAL shame though!! But, is it possible that anyome else has the skills to help him (and thus, us) out? Can’t be too much work if your into Mac programming to convert it, can it? It would be awsome beyond words!

whoops, I thought the top comments were the latest. seems this has been discussed already. my bad, sorry…

It’s so good now i can make so many different beats, good luck
;)

Any news on how progress on the next version is coming along? Or is it still mostly in the planning stages?

Candle Nine: When I have proper news I will post it :)

Overall, not much has changed in the Glitch world since my “Welcome” post. At that point (towards the end of January) I was busy planning my move from Norway back to the UK, finishing up things at my day job, tying up loose ends, generally being stressed out, etc. I moved back here to the UK at the end of February and have spent the last month or so just organising random things, digging stuff out of storage, finding myself a new place to live, continuing to be stressed, etc. I’ve written tiny bits of code here and there, but I’ve really been too pre-occupied to get any serious work done so far. I realise that time must drag by slowly for all you guys who are waiting to see updates to the plug-in, and how frustrating that must be, but for me the days and weeks are just flying by ridiculously fast… I can’t believe it’s April already!

Anyway, the whole point of this big change in my life was specifically to give myself more time for Glitch and other personal projects. I’ve made the move now and I should be settling into my new place in a few days. It might take me a little while to build up my momentum again, but I’m gonna be focusing on Glitch pretty much fulltime now with no distractions, so I’m *really* excited to finally get back into it! I think things should move along pretty nicely once I’m locked away in my room with a big case of RedBull :)

I’d be prepared to drop some serious coin for a Mac version.

Daddy Tryptamine on April 7th, 2008 at 21:46

Great news Kieran ! I’ve just found your plugin, and I must admit that it’s the best live music modification tool I’ve ever seen ! Thats what I’ve been looking for for years !

Thank you very much, and keep up the great work, I know developping softwares are a huge work, but when you have the chance to find a great idea you should not give it up ;)

Excellent. We’ll all have to be patient then. ;) Can’t wait!

By the way, I’m doing a design concept of my idea for Glitch to have a step sequencer with layered effects, advanced transport, and a signal path, and how to make it work in the interface. So, I was wondering if it would be okay to send it to you to look at. Yes?

Awesome plug-in!! Nice demo vid too. Do you know of any issues with Glitch and Protools LE 7.1. I am using FXPansion to rtas to convert to vst. It sees it and can open it, but my system starts locking up, bad. Hard reboots each time. I have enough processing power so im not sure if maybe its the particular wrapper im using. Any thoughts on this? Thanks a bunch.

its nice to see a plug in eliminate all that time i use to spend finding things to glitch and solder all the tiny patches and switches. thank you this is awesome but everyone is right it needs to be on mac.

Kieran, it’s great to hear you are planning to make Glitch a priority. If you can, please focus on Cubase 4 compatibility in the next version since it doesn’t work in there at all, usually crashes or similar. I think if you use the VST 2.4 base, you should be a lot more compatible with lots of hosts :)

I’m still not using Cubase 4 since I can’t live without Glitch.

I have coded some C++ and a little in Pascal (at uni) and I personally don’t think it’s all that hard to switch from one to the other since the main difference is syntax I think, it might take a little more time to go to C++ but you will have code that can easily be ported to Mac to make the Mac guys happy.

Just my 2cents, love your work!

Cheers
Fots

brilliant fx insert ,,nuff said cheers matey :)

Hey, thanks for releasing the VST for free, I’m impressed with it already and I haven’t even downloaded yet…

I’m actually interested in VSTi coding in C++, if you could point me in the right direction for code tutorials etc I’d really appreciate it.

Truly a masterpiece! And what makes it even better is that it’s free! Great, I’m going to use this a lot in my music production. Thanks so much for this wonderful tool!

what happened to the old illformed site?? had sosososososo… many artists with ill tracks n all i downloaded like atleast 100 songs from the old site. I was wondering if you were gonna put those back up

werd!!

Kieran–

Glitch is incredible. Thanks and congratulations–you’ve done very impressive work here.

FOR MAC USERS:

Options as of now–
–Bootcamp
–VMWare Fusion is rumored to provide better audio than Parallels, but I’m unclear as to if either of them can support ASIO.
–Cheap PC running the VST and slaved to the Mac via MIDI (midi over IP works fine for this.) Audio is routed back via digital cabling, Wormhole2, or (if you’re brave) netjack. Or simply played from the PC and then bounced to a file and transferred .

Kieran, I was wondering if these might be of any use to you in subduing the slavering horde of Jobsians:

“Compile Delphi Programs for Mac OSX?” — FreePascal (compiler) FAQs
http://community.freepascal.org:10000/bboards/message?message_id=268662&forum_id=24111

“FPC supports the Delphi Object Pascal dialect. It however does not automagically convert Windows programs into Mac OS X programs. FPC itself is just the compiler and most non-visual components. For the visual components, you want Lazarus.”

The Lazarus IDE for the FPC
http://www.lazarus.freepascal.org

Thread on the Lazarus forums regarding porting to Mac OS X. The takeaway is that it currently to have a working GUI for a Delphi Object Pascal app built with FPC requires the user to first build a working install of GTK on their Mac as the support for Carbon in Lazarus is lacking. I don’t know if that would work for VSTs inside a host app.

http://www.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=3194

Also, I know that Urs Heckmann ( u-he.com ) used to take care of re-compiling the digitalfishphones plugins for mac users on behalf of the DFP developer–but I think they were written in some flavor of C to start with.

Anyway, great work–thanks again.

hi,

i would like to know where can i download the old versions of glitch,
because my old project use an older version!
thanks!

Hey, Im sorry, but i have a dumb question haha
IM super new to using VST
Im a “Reason” guy. haha, but Man. ” Glitch” looks incredible.

How do you load loops into this?
I’m using Ableton Live 7…which I’ve also just switched over to using.

If you could help me out, that would be AWESOME.

hey i figured it out, whooooooooo, so never mind my last comment

hi, i’m new to the music making thing so i’ve been using Mixcraft 4, it’s easy to use so it suits me but i can’t get it to recognize Glitch.

what a plug in ,totally amazing and hours of fun ,ive had no problems with it in ableton live and the creative possibilitys are endless thanks a million !!!!!!!!!

Thanks dude, amazing plugin, perfect to create psy trance sounds with :D, thanks alot

This plug-in is a major PIECE OF SH*T! Complete Crap!!!

Just kidding!!! : )

It is the most amazing looking and sounding plug-in I have seen in years (if ever) and the one I have been looking for for as long.

However, since I am a Mac user, I am going to quietly crawl away sobbing and slit my wrists…….death, please come quickly before the stutter edit kicks in.

Just a note: 1985 EP is freakin’ awesome. really good tunes. great vibe. thanks for sharing those.

Hi there Kieren, I came to this site basically to beg you for a mac version (nice new site by the way, been about 2 years since i last dropped by) however, after reading the same thing about a million times and your responses, i came to the conclusion that you know the score already, and as much as its killing me not being able to use glitch in ableton on my shiny new mac, i really respect the reasons you have given. The point is, despite everyone whining and whining for a mac version, i still get so much use out of it that Id love to donate a tenner or so just as a thank you for making what is, in my humble opinion, the most useful, inspiring and innovative plug in that ive ever seen. If youd like to contact me via my email id be more than happy to do so, and i STRONGLY suggest you add a donate button to this page, as im certain hundreds of people feel exactly the same as i do.

Anyway yeah, sincerely, thanks for the plug, it really is the most inspirational piece of software i own. All the best in your personal life, and Il be watching with baited breath as you iron out all the flaws you mentioned above and get it to a stage where youre satisfied selling it (and possibly porting it or getting it ported of course!)

Get a donate button, seriously, or email me with your paypal details. Id really like to sort you out with some small reward for all the joy ive got out of Glitch. Thanks again, Oll

Lolita Complex on May 1st, 2008 at 07:28

Awesome. Absolutely awesome. Thank you so much for this amazing plugin!

Hey Kieran,

I completely agree with the previous post – you should create some kind of ‘donate’ option on this site – the Glitch is just amazing and to find it as freeware is cool, but I’d like to donate some money so you can earn a living and spend more time creating/perfecting this plugin, create new ones, or a mac-version [if I read all of the above, that sounds like the best option for the near future ;-)

Thanks for this awesome plugin!!

Tom

I´ve been using it in my productions for over a year, and it´s simply the BEST effect plugin i´ve ever heard.

if i could only use one plugin, this would be it, no questions asked. whether live or in the studio, it’s aways got a place in my rig. i wish the automation in ableton wasn’t so buggy though.

Looks super, thank you

Hi I have Virtual DJ 5.0 Does GLITCH work with this program and if so how?

Simply….GREAT !!!
I’m having a lot of fun playing with your plugin and i’m planning to let you listen something.
Thank you very much for giving it for free.

f.

I just changed from Windows to Mac and this is the first thing I’m really really missing!!

OMG, this is done in Delphi?

Good job! :> !

Amazing!!…two days since I discovered this wonder and still drooling.Forget about the Mac and concentrate in my Cubase ( Does it sound selfish ? . It is , and I´m not ashamed of it ) . I agree with many posts regarding the free-of-charge issue : it´s too good to give it away like this . It´s just a very personal point of view , but I hate the “donation” stuff , kind of embarrassing for me . A small price would be mutch better , I think ( even though you could charge heavily for such a good product ) . Wish list : full sequencer-synchronization and preset-save and load feature ( Or those already exist and I am too dumb ! ) Good luck!!! .

I agree with … well … basically everybody else :-).
This plug in is one of the best ones around – and it would be so even if it had a price tag on it.

I’d like to donate some money too – open up a PayPal account now :-)

Thanks for this incredible tool of inspiration.

dochanjorge on May 12th, 2008 at 02:39

Wow, how i love this effect!!
New goal is to hook it up with my new uc33 :)

keep up the great work!!

Well, coll VST for sure. Really nice effects, good sounding, smooth etc BUT there is one thing against dblue_glitch glitch. It sounds so cool, that everybody uses this. Many people dont bother anymore about drum programing but only turn glitch with some random settings on amen break so some people will say: whoa, man, awesome stuff while other people say jeez, another dblue_glitch release. Anyway its one of the best vst, its just too good

THIS Plug-in is AMAZING!, 1 thing i knowticed though. after months of playing with its randomization features, if thats all you do anybody will instantly know your useing Glitch. LOL. Latley ive been incorperating Glitch into my music as sparingly as possable, everyone, you will see the more you play with it, it is necesarry to create automation clips for each specific function and intelegently blend the effects. once you understand it all its an AMAZING PLUGIN. THANK YOU D-BLUE. :-D

Wow! This plug-in is exactly what I’ve looking for!
Clever user interface, incredible sound.

Keep up the good work !

So it was said that a Mac version is greatly for a college project ;]]
And it was proclaimed “It should be done!” by that loud-mouthed kid on the glitch comment box.
Amen.

I can’t use it with WaveLab 5.0. Witch softwares should I get in order to make it work. Because it seems dblue_Glitch_v1304 does amazing things. Can’t wait to try it.

Thank you.

Great work on the plug-in! I’ve been admiring from a far since I run primarily in a Mac environment.

Do you have a donate link?

Please please please a mac version ;)

Sweet piece of gear!

Hello, looks like a good plug in but my cubase 3 is not reading it.Any advice?thanx.

Great plugin.

best of luck mate.

great stuff on May 22nd, 2008 at 00:21

congrats on the plugin and thanks for making it available. would it be possible for you to post the history of your updates though. even a very sketchy one would suffice, just to know if i can safely swap the old for the new version, or if i have to keep the old one to have the old projects sounding as intended (i give proprietary names to each version so that the host can differentiate between them). specifically can i chuck 1.30.2 for the latest 1.30.4, or are there any sound related changes that would affect my projects using 1.30.2? thanks again and all the best for the future :)

one of the greatest free plugins around: perfect sound and perfect gui as well! excellent work!

NEED HELP!!!!

I checked out this website, along with the Youtube video, and I must say I am anxious to use this plug-in. The only problem is, after I downloaded it, I followed the directions and placed it into my VSTPlugin’s folder. After that, I reopened my software (CUBASE LE, SONY ACID MUSIC STUDIO), I could not use the Plug-in.

If anyone can tell me possibly what I could be doing wrong, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Nate Pohlit on May 23rd, 2008 at 16:14

Hi,

This is probably obvious to most of you, but can anyone explain what the R (read automation) and W (write automation) buttons in the upper left corner of glitch do? Do they record the changes you make to the controls of glitch as you use it? Thanks a million!

@ Mauricio Bratifisch:
Wavelab and other editors like SoundForge do not work because they are not real sequencers. Glitch needs tempo and timing information which are provided by sequencer hosts such as Renoise, FLStudio, Cubase, Live, etc.

@ ddj:
Your post was a bit vague so I’m not sure what could be wrong. Glitch is an effect, not an instrument, so make sure you look for it in Cubase’s list of VST effects. It should show up as a send/insert effect or something like that.

@ glitchonix:
I’ll try to get a history log up here at some point, but I think you should be pretty safe going from 1.3.02 to 1.3.04. It was just small tweaks and fixes between those versions. I would keep a backup of the older version though, just in case, as it’s difficult to predict how each host handles version differences between projects.

@ Nate Pohlit:
Can you please be more specific? Which version of Cubase LE? Which version of ACID? What exactly do you mean by “could not use the plug-in”? You cannot see it in the list of effects? You can see it but cannot load it? You can load it but it doesn’t seem to respond? etc.

@ Bill:
Sorry but there are no such buttons in Glitch itself. I believe the buttons you’re referring to are part of Cubase’s interface (if that’s the host you’re using), so I would recommend you consult Cubase’s documentation for further information on that subject.

whoops, my bad. thank you for answering so quickly kieran

I use FL7 right now. When I make a “pattern” everything sounds great, but when I make multiple patterns to put together for a song, the effects seem to change (its not on random) in the pattern as the song plays.

Its probably just something stupid on my end, but been messing with it for awhile and not been able to figure it out.

AND – Do you take donations? I pay money for shit I don’t end up liking or using. I feel you deserve a couple bucks or a bottle of gin or something.

This plugin is great! I have a question though, how do I get the pattern to be the same length as my sample like in your video? When I try the sample loop and GLitches pattern are not the same length. Any help? Thanks!

I use glitch every day and have done so for a very long time.

My favourite peice of kit.

Outstanding.

James – Proof Of Concept

thanks for the reply kieran, looking forward to the history :)

@martijn
you can set the length of the glitch pattern in the upper right hand corner just below the main volume knob. by default glitch’s pattern is 64 steps long, so just click on the arrow pointing left to shorten it till it matches your sample’s length (presumably 16 or 32 steps).

thank you Kieran.

james anderson on May 28th, 2008 at 06:01

I can’t seem to get this work on FL8 (fruity loops 8) Could you please help me? it says that is cannot load the plugin.

Tommy Tremundo on May 29th, 2008 at 05:11

This program is fucking sweet. I’ve been using an older version for some time now and have been happy with that. But I like the interface changes. Keep up the amazing work, I hope to shoot some money your way for this essential vst someday.

I use it a lot with Orion Platinum.

man, this is the only thing i miss from having a windows computer!

Thanks for Glitch! I use it to the point of feeling guilty for not telling you. I’ve been using it with Audiomulch and it’s actually much more stable than many other VSTs I use. It’s also very intuitive and ergonomic. I’m sure you have a million ideas on how to improve it but please don’t compromise it’s philosophy – the reason why Glitch is such a sucess is it’s simplicity! And yet it opens a world of possibilities. I’ve seen only so many nice pieces of software turn uselesslly over-complex through their upgrade history.
For ideological reasons, I only use freeware, shareware and open source software and I do understand that if you don’t go commercial with Glitch, someone else will come up with something similar (and sell it anyway), but Glitch became one of my most oftenlly used *pieces de resistance* in my pro-open source arguments. Please keep it free!

António Duarte on May 30th, 2008 at 03:51

When are you planning to start working on the new version? Where can I donate money to give you a speed boost?

Yeah…I use free software for “ideological reasons” too…a pity I cannot use free hardware…any volunteers ?

OMG!!!!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

I <3 THIS PLUG-IN!

Thank you so much for this extraordinary plugin!!! It really kicks ass and allows me to make my sounds much more unique…

Big up!

This plugin has to be one of my more favorite plugins ever created, talk about a time saver !

Id love the ability be able to layer glitches without opening the vst multiple times, but that is far from a huge issue.

man…..
this plug-in is unreal stuff
u should get into the industry of making plug-ins
with creativity like this u can do so much
tnx from Israel

Attention Kieran:

Thank you for your response. I downloaded the zip file from your website, and unzipped it. I then placed it in the folder for my VST Plugins, and when I open my Sony Acid Music Studio 7.0, I cannot find the Glitch VST on my Plugins list.

Any help?

Hi Kieran,

Hope your start to Glitch II is without any problems. Just one thing I’d love in the new version is VST3 support & sidechaining. Nice for us cubase 4.1 users. Thanks Kieran…………….. Parris

I have figured out how to open the Glitch VST Effect in my Sony Acid. This may be a dumb question, but how do I apply the effect to my sound? Meaning, how do I actually use it? To me it is difficult right now, but i maybe not seeing something.

IF ANYONE KNOWS THE ANSWER, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO HELP. Thank you.

just de select disable transport on the plugin and all will come to you…

peace p66

ps thanks for such a great plugin…respect

macs suck fuck them

Thanks for writing such a great plugin!

And for the Mac whingers – if you want someone else to spend THEIR time on something for YOU, then perhaps you should be a bit more polite about it.

As for me, if/when Glitch goes Mac I will be buying a MacBook :P

A sweet pice of software….. it’s really something amazing :D

I have a suggestion Dont make a mac version because, hey , fuck’em

Can you make this so it works with fruity loops 8?

Good job.. real sweet..

@chris: it’s works in fruity 6 and 7 i guess… what’s the problem with 8?

it’s just awesome man.
one of the most intuitive yet powerful vst’s ive seen
big up!

@ Chris: It works fine on FL8 for me.

Now this is one hell of a fun VST to work with.

For all you MAC ppl, here is a plug in I found which is a good (if not better than Glitch)

http://mdsp.smartelectronix.com/2005/07/livecut.php

enjoy

hey, i think sugar bytes ripped you off with effectrix!

So I’ve been reading comments like: ‘It works in FL8!’ and comments like: ‘It doesn’t’ And in my case you can add another it doesn’t work comment. Could someone please tell how to install it into FL8? I am familiar with installing plug ins but it now says it can’t be loaded into a channel whatever I do, thanks guys, great job on Glitch!

i’ve got a suggestion for the next version, duno exactly where i should post this but here seems like an ok spot.

is it possible you could map the presets to the numberpad or keypad?

i’m a new(noob) user and one of the thing i’d like to be able todo is create x number of presets, each having varying levels of glitchyness to them and switch between them on the fly, mapping the presets to the keypad would help me out greatly with that. great app either way man, many thanks for all your work :)

this is a really great ap keep up the good work kieran. i’m in the same boat planning a move to free up more time.

OK, I give up! I am one of those Mac users that woefully wants to use this plug-in. So I have decided to use my PC laptop from work to play around with this. So the question is, is there any good free VST host software out there for the PC I could download to play around with Glitch? My only experience is with what is available for the Mac.

Thanks!
Sam

Question addition to above comment…Could I use Audacity? Does it take VST plug-ins?

Thanks,
Sam

Sam: Glitch relies on being synchronised to timing information generated by a proper sequencer host such as Renoise, FLStudio, Live, Cubase, etc. It will not work correctly in audio editors, even if those applications do actually support VST plug-ins.

When I use Ableton as a Sampler, the Enable Transport clock runs on it’s own. When I use midi files, it will clock. I’ve sent Ableton to External Sync, still no go. I’m using a hardware sequencer to trigger Ableton 6, by the way.

Any suggestions. I know it does clock with internal midi files i’ve imported into Live, but when I trigger any clips/samples from Simpler with my hardware sequencer… Glitch doesn’t want to track Ableton’s host clock and run on it’s own timing.

This totally makes it unusable for me. Any suggestions??

hi i am totaly new to making music with computers and i have been interested in glitch for a while now coming from santa cruz california where it is very popular can anyone give me advice on what programe i should start learning and where to find easy tutorial for it to start with and how to plug in the glitch programe ect ect it would be much appriciated .i live as a monk and live with many musicians who do indian music and one day aspire to take samples and glitch them out.my e-mail is higglediggle@yahoo.com lol dharani-dharendra-das

beg like the lil mac users u are. mwahahaha. :)

every time i use it, it crashes ableton live… the older version of dblue glitch never used to do that, its frustrating because i cant find the old version now :( hhhhhh

I’ve been using Cakewalk Sonar 7 a lot lately, and I don’t know if this is the right place or time for a bug report, but when I put Glitch 1.3.04 as a send effect in a bus, Sonar crashes at the point that I enable it.

So, if you’re getting ready to do a new version, if you can test it on Cakewalk products that’d be awesome.

It’s really a nice plug-in, easy to use, hard to belive that it’s free

I am a MAC user as well and just saw a video of this amazing software and DUDE…you could make a lot of money if you wanted to sell a mac version! I would buy it in a heartbeat….PLEASE, Pretty PLEASE

You really have an amazing plug in here~S

Hey there,

Is there any way you could re-program this to also get an AU (Audio units) version??

I am still using logic 7 /// 8 on my laptop and this would be very helpful since logic doesn’t use vsts.

Kieran, can you help????

ahhhhh please make this an Audio unit….. please

Jon thompson on June 25th, 2008 at 02:22

Hi,
Is this stable for Cubase 4 yet?

Very-very Cool!!!! :)

Hey there…

Am having some problems with Glitch v 1.3 being recognised by Sony Acid Pro 6.0 with Windows Vista OS, it just won’t seem to recognise the .dll file even after reinstalls, rescans and changing the VST folder. I have installed Framework 1.1 as advised and have the recommended Vista patch installed to for Acid…seems to work fine on Ableton, but Acid is my preferrer sequencing software and this is very annoying as Glitch has to be my favourite plug-in out there.

I have scoured the internet for solutions to no avail which brings me here, if anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Big props to you Kieran for a great piece of kit…best music freeware I’ve downloaded ever, which is quite the accomplishment.

Paolo.

Can i use the Effect with Virtual Dj it supports VST but
it don´t works ???

Can somebody help me ???

thx a lot

MarcoBelinea@lycos.at

I will donate 100$ for u to make this an AU!

Does this work with Cool Edit Pro v2? If so what do I need to do to use it?

works for FL Studio XXL 8, i was trying to use it as a VSTi lol not a VST

Thanks for what you’re doing here. It’s very much appreciated. And great that Sound On Sound magazine brought your work to my attention.
Ran Glitch as an insert into a complex project in Cubase 4.1.3 with Kontakt 3, HalionOne and Reason 4 re-wired, and the whole crashed immediately. However opened a simple project, running a single track of 24 bit audio at 44.1 and Glitch… I ‘m very pleased to say, ran a treat. Fantastic. Thanks to your work I’m really looking forward to having some real sonic FUN. What a wonderful product, and as a freebie WOW!
Thanks again.

PLEASE A MAC VERSION!!!
please
please
please
a MAC version!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

please, please, please…………..

Kerian,

Do you just not like MACs or are they harder to program for?
I read all the comments asking you to make an AU version and wanting to even pay for it and don’t understand why you won’t.
I personally would love it…
Please enlighten us.
Thanks~Stephen

Sorry,
Just read your reply….
I’ll be waiting anxiously!

Hope you’re still drinking that Red Bull.

….by far best pluggie for mad beat mangling!

props deserved. i’m using it in ableton 7 and haven’t had a single error. great sh*t!

I find it works fine in FLStudio7 as aVST effect. You can automate any of the parameters simply by using the ‘last tweaked parameter control’ Sorry if this obvious to most FL Users.

Thanks Kieran for a great plug-in.

Sidechain_21 on July 2nd, 2008 at 18:39

i’ve met a bug using Cubase Sx 3 > Cubase 4
glitch doesn’t play same sounds in one project

basically Cubase 4 crashes now, when i try to load glitch

I take it no one is using Protools then. Never got a reply back : ( . I can get glitch to open, but locks up my pc and crashes. Running Protools LE 7.1 and have FXpansion for VST wrapper. Anyone else having issues with Glitch and Protools (pc)? This app looks/sounds fantastic and I cant use it!. Much thanks for anyones insight.

@Adrian: Unfortunately I doubt there is much you can do at the moment. As I’ve mentioned before, this version of the plug-in definitely contains a few bugs that I never managed to squash back when I was actually working on it. On top of that you are using the VST->RTAS wrapper which could be introducing other issues I’m not aware of (although I’m 99.99% certain there’s no problem with the wrapper and it’s just my crappy code).

@funkerrrr: What I just said, but ignore the part about the VST->RTAS wrapper :)

The bottom line is: I didn’t really know what I was doing when I originally made the plug-in. It’s badly-designed, it’s full of ugly hacks, it’s inefficient, etc. When I try to wade through that old source code now to find the bugs, it’s so messy that I just want to punch myself in the face! To be honest I would like to remove the current version from the site until I have something better ready, but, due to the public demand for it, all I can do is offer it “as is” and make people aware that it’s very much a work in progress.

These days I’m more familiar with the VST spec, I’ve shaken off a lot of nasty old programming habits, and I’m generally feeling more confident in my abilities, so it’s simply a matter of staying focused and motivated enough to produce some new, better code. Slooooowly but surely…

Hey man, thanks. You made a great piece os software. I must say that i love it and use it every day. it blowed my mind. I had to told mom that I found it, like when you are a kind and find something interesting on the street. I felt like a kid with a new toy.

juanmahenao on July 4th, 2008 at 21:10

we got your point Kieran
we wish you good luck
i think this softwate is worth of selling and developing
cheers!

Re: Cubase 4, yep, the current version of Glitch works very badly in C4 (while it was ok in SX3). It seems to suffer some problems…

- It is no longer syncing with the tempo correctly (and therefore many fx sound different)
- It crashes and brings down Cubase 4 with it most times when you initialise it
- Sometimes the GUI does not show up when you open the plugin (that is, if you loaded it successfully)

The thing that makes this plugin so great is the individual sound of each of the FX, they have a very direct, aggressive and awesome sound. Honestly, each effect could be considered as good if not better than the equivalent standalone fx. I strongly recommend to Kieran that you please do not modify them much, if you could just fix the bugs and keep the plugin identical, I would be more than happy and most definitely willing to purchase it had you decided to make it payware again!

Best Regards
Fots

Awesome tool to use

A really great one, sad the automation in FLStudio doesn’t work properly yet

Kieran,

Thanks for the heads up and info. Its too bad. Atleast some ppl out there can get some use out of it. I’ll continue looking around. thanks a bunch. : )

Has any Cubase 4 user try to subhost it in Xt2 or other plugin of the like ? ( Glitch inside Xt2 , Xt2 inside Cubase ) .

We really need a mac version of this would pay some $$ for a copy of it, very impressed with this creative plug in
big up and props

This is the greatest invention since the beginning of time.

In regards to the MAC whining… I prefer running this through a PC, it forces me to get up from my Mac and change location. Totally helps me not get ear fatigue and ass numbness. I’ve actually just bought a new PC just to run Glitch and some other free vsts.

Anyway, awesome job on this.

for fuck’s sake where is DONATE button?!
:]]]]]]]]]]]

Just chiming in as a Mac user, hoping you’ll come out with a Universal Binary (or at least work with someone who would) for version 2. You’ve created a one of a kind thing here, no one’s done this in a better way. Just a shame I can’t use this in conjunction with my favourite DAW, Logic. Great work though!

Absolutely love the plug in.. real shame its not available for macs as I would love to own a copy!

We need a Mac version!! I wanna open this bad boy up in Logic!!

Cant wait for glitch to be rewritten, this VST rocks hard !

This is one of the best plugins in my arsenal. Took me a wee bit of tweaking to get it working with Sonar, but it works great. Very flexible, perfect for mutilating absolutely anything!

I heard this used on another artist at DMusic. He sent me in this direction. I absolutely love this plugin. I’ve wondered for years how to make sounds like this. And oops, now I just have to get creative with it, and let the plugin do the rest.
Thank you so much.

Pete

Hey guys. The plugin is freaking awsome!

BUT I cant get it to work on my midi tracks only audio tracks in Cubase.

When I try to add it as an effect on a midi track it is not on the list.
When I do it on a audio it appears.

Why?

Thank you, best regards!

@NorthBull: I don’t use Cubase myself so unfortunately I cannot give any specific tips, but Glitch does require audio input to work, so it makes sense that you can only use it on an audio track. If you’re trying to route MIDI in there to automate some parameters, then you’ll probably have to create a separate MIDI track and route it into the audio track via whatever method Cubase provides. If you’re trying to apply Glitch to the output of some VST synths/instruments, then I assume Cubase requires those to be placed on a MIDI track? In which case, there must be some way to route the output of the synths to an audio track and apply Glitch there instead?

Dear Kieran I fixed the problem!

Apparently there are two different effect modules for each track in cusebase with different effects and different buttons!

I was simply clicking the wrong button.

For thoose who have the same problem you can see it here:www.northbull.com/images/cubase3_copy.jpg’

Thank you so much for the great effect, it rocks!!

Ok instead of everyone bothering him to make a mac version without incentive, lets try and give him some. I say get him to put a donate button up on the site and get everyone to put some cash in to get someone else to re-code it for mac!

Arne Venema on July 13th, 2008 at 02:39

Kieran, do you have any idea approximately when the rewrite will be complete? Cubase 4 runs so well here but I’m really forced to use SX3 for this plugin since I truly love it and use it everywhere :)

Thanks!
Fots

wow – awesome

Hallo, glitch is definitely one of the most best Plugins I have. THX alot for the Power!
But there is one problem:
It Works fine in one Loop in my Cubase SX 3. I programm Glitch and it always makes the same things which I’ve programmed for that Loop. But if I copy my Midi and Audio to another place in the Sequenzer. then Glitch makes some different cuts and slices.
This Problem makes it unable for me to produce Songs with Glitch,
Does anyone know how to fix it?
So that I can use one Glitch Pattern not only for the current loop, but also to use same Pattern (and I mean exactly the same sound) on an other position in the Sequenzer. I hope you enyoied my english ;-)
Would be nice if there is an opportunity.
THX again
Big Up all time !

did u try this on Cubase 4 ?

One of the best plugs out there, thank you! Works great for me in Cubase 4.

ps, an amazing piece of software

i really believe its worth to knock their door!!!

best… j

Hi, its me again. To make Glitch perfekt, you really should make it possible to disable the random option of the Shuffler. Would be great! When will you drop a new Version ?

Cheers

I’m having trouble syncronising Glitch to my sequencer. I use Sonar 3 and Fruity Loops 4. Any suggestions? Otherwise, an excellent piece of software. Keep up the good work.

Not having any luck getting midi map working when using Ableton Live – anybody had any luck with this?

@ Johannes B.:

Offcourse there is a work-around for this; when you do a mixdown of that particular region (of that track only) includiong the glitch effect; you have a audio-region you can repeat further in your song….
Hope this is what you meant, and this helps…

Indead a badass plug-in… and also patiently looking foreward to start using it in Logic….

Greetz,

David

would you take 5000$ to make a mac version?

must say that this is one of the most awesome plugs i’ve ever used I dont think i have a song that i havent used this plugin on my new cd.

I also am a developer and understand the demands in writing apps. but maybe if you do want to offer it for free like this and be developed for every os maybe you should consider making the code for it free source and allow other coders to help you Im sure theres thousands of us out there that love your plugin and would love to help out.

Also I would love it if you could make the fx variable so we can load other vsts for glitch use

If you are interested in porting this over to the Intel Mac (universal binary) please let me know as I may be able to help you aquire a macintosh if you are serious about the port.

I can`t use this plig in in windows vista using acid 6.0. I need do somehting?

Thanks alot man
It’s an awesome VST

Hi, still not having any luck getting midi map working when using Ableton Live – anybody had any luck with this?

Fantastic plugin :) Does everything I could ask for, and has never crashed yet – seems very stable in my tests with Logic & Cubase!

@lh: Go to the MIDI settings in Live and make sure the “Remote” option is enabled for the MIDI input device you want to use. Add Glitch as an effect to an audio track as usual. Create a new MIDI track in Live, make sure the “arm arrangement” option is enabled, and then route its output to the Audio track with Glitch on it. That should do the trick.

Big Up the Glitch!

i just recently got Ableton Live 7.0.2 and i was wondering how i could hook up Glitch to work using that as the host VST?

Hi,

Just wanted to say good luck with coding.
I am looking forward to a Mac version.

Kind regards

IF ANYBODY HAS ANY IDEA ,AT ALL,HOW I CAN SOLVE THIS PROBLEM THEN I WOULD BE VERY,VERY..VERY VERY VERY GRATEFUL!!!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SOMEBODY REPLY..I AM BEING DENIED THIS BEAUTIFUL CREATION…

I NEED GLITCH!!!!!!!

THANKS

@REZ: Please take it easy with the UPPERCASE… no need to shout :)

I can tell you that the ZIP file is OK – I have just downloaded it myself and successfully unzipped the plug-in, then used the plug-in in Renoise.

Are you using some kind of download manager that may be causing problems? If so, try disabling that to see if it helps.

Have you checked your system for viruses? Perhaps there is something else which is corrupting the ZIP file after you download it?

Which web browser do you use? Have you tried downloading the file with another web browser to see if that’s the problem?

Yep. This is the best VST ever. No doubt. You win.

Great Plugin!! I already love you for this, and i´ve just installed it. :D

Rock on!

fucken awesome, i have no probs using it in ableton alongside other plugins rewire etc and it handles fine does seem a bit chunky cpu wise but lots of my plugins do and i accept them. This plugin has infected all of my musical projects and i love just putting a touch of a track through it using the banks and recording that then chopping the audio up with the dry track. excellent stuff.

Amazing plug in…much success on your venture. Keep innovating and doing the impossible.

Unfortunately Keiran, I am not able to tell you I had problems getting this to work.
I am also not able to tell you the my PC & Sequencer cannot get this to run and make awesome glitch sounds.
So therefore I am not going to tell you to redo it just because it doesn’t work on MY machine.

Thanks mate!
It Works a Treat!!

Best of luck in you’re future endeavours man!

When you do sort out things mac wise i for one would pay like $50-100 for this beast i guarentee im not alone, Pc applications just dont do this baby jusice. By the way, VST is a glabal format, you can use this on ableton on a mac but not on logic (steinberg own the vst format and havent sold apple rights to it, they have sold rights to ableton however)

This is fantastic stuff, just what I’ve been looking for. Was disappointed at first as it didn’t seem to work in Sonar, until I noticed the comment about enabling it as a tempo-based effect.

Definately needs a readme containing such useful info :)

Will happily pay for the final version, within reason… many many thanks!

please can we have a mac version of this, its posible that alot of the dodgy pc problems will desolve if we have it on a MORE STABLE PLATFORM… please this plugin is going to murder the scene if its available on mac too

PLEASE DO GLITCH FOR THE MAC!!!

WICKED PLUGIN BEST OUT THERE FOR SURE.

Don’t even think about doing a MAC version, that would only promote ppl to spend twice the real value of a computer buying a MAC, and encouraging Steve Jobs into his little closed box and making people buy ONLY MAC stuff, closing their posibilities, because SJ wants to.

And post the manual please, I can’t find it.

Last but not least: GREAT DAMN PLUGIN.

can you please email me I need this app in mac so I can start my tour… I need it I will transpose it to a universal binary its not that hard pascal was writen for mac I just need your written permission to reverse engineer it or send me the code or can i buy a limited licence that allows me to change it over I love this app Ive been offered a nice record deal but only if i can play it live… and i cant without this app

Just want to thank you for this amazing free plugin. Most of my projects feature it, and I don’t even do very glitchy type of stuff. So easy to use, versatile and free!

Thanks a lot!

Have done laods of research on the interweb to find something similar for the mac’s, and surprise surprise… this plugin is talked about in so many forums i lost count. i am even considering installing bootcamp with win xp on my mac just to run this

first of all – great plugin. fell in love with it while working with logic. now i´ve switched to reaper and i can´t use one of my most important pluggies.
the 1303 couldn´t be displayed. the 1304 opens correctly but when i start reaper everything is randomized. i cannot modify oder save anything. if i stop reaper i can choose the effects and modify them but when i start reaper again every change is back to wildly randomizing. i read that you are recoding the whole shabang so i guess this problem won´t be there for ever but maybe there is a workaround of some sort?

i can´t stand a glitchfree producing time ;-)

i´m glad about every answer

Why is everyone crying about Macs?! They ain’t that great… all using Pentium processors anyway. Stop being slaves to fashion and build your own music PCs!!! Glitch is feckin awesome… been used twice now on recordings that are published. Why can’t we pay for it? ;-)

MAC MAC MAC OSX OSX OSX OSX!!!

This is the plug I am looking for but for mac. Please do mac

Hi!

Kieran,

Thanks a million for putting that VST plugin up. It works great and is the best I’ve bin using so far.
Keep up the good work and good luck with re-writing the code (are you still working on a – in your eyes – perfect version?)

Props from the Heart of Holland,

Deedz

I have boot camp I have it installed but bootcamp doesnt support my controllers or usb correctly please let me change it over to mac for you so i can have zero latency for live the pc is just not fast enough for me to use your app live

Hi,

This is an awesome plugin, just incase nobody had noticed, which, of course, everybody has…! :P :D

Kieran, you really could make some money from this. I for one would pay for it, but I respect you also for making it freeware! ;)

Have been having problems with Cubase 4, but hopefully the latest hotfix will fix this… (fingers crossed!) :D

All the best,

Adam B

man thanks so much for making this freeware.
i could swear aphex twin just runs a generic drum loop through this plugin!!
well obviously not but this vst can do so much it can add so much to a track even just a tiny use of it can make a song hugely better.

i accessed this site—>>>>www.sugar-bytes.de<<<<—– ,and i found a vst effect similar whit glitch, even the skin.its named effectrix and its f…98 Euros(d… its a vst).thank you very much dblue for sharing this for free,ur the hero.

Hey! Very Interesting tool,I want to know where can I find some documents.

Thanks!!

Hi I am from Peru and I cant seem to get this work on FL8!! Fruit Loops 8. the message say: Cannot Load an effect into a channel!!!! PLEASE HELP ME!!!.

I have other friends and have the same problem!!! :-(

What happen!?

Holyyy… this has to be the best plugin for a loong time! And then it’s free (put up a paypalaccount and let’s support you!). Do you know what this can mean to the musical scene in general; what a huge ressource it actually can be for many establised and also upcoming artists? Keep up the great work and you got a serious future right in front of you as a VST-programmer/-company.

Great respect!

Hi: Great plug — wonderful and intuitive! My only problem is that it seems to crash my main host (Cubase4) frequently. I noticed another poster here mentioning this issue as well. Any solutions/upgrades for the near future…?

Thanks!
J

I love the plugin but I can’t get it to work with audacity or this other freeware audio editing program I have called wavepad. do you know of any freeware programs that support it?

Great Work! ….i love it! Not only that it contains 9 different deconstructing FX, i can also arrange them in a intuitiv manner. Damn good.
Thanx a lot for sharing :-))

Hi, really love Glitch, have one question tho:
I can contol all the knobs with midi from my host (cubase), no problem, but can’t seem to use midi to trigger the different effects. Is it possible to do this, & if so please tell me how?

best regards, and thanks for a wicked plugin

@Elden: Unfortunately, it’s not possible to trigger the effects completely in realtime, which I assume is what you mean. It is possible to change the currently solo’ed effect so that only that particular effect is triggered, but the manner in which it is triggered is still dictated by the structure of the pattern sequencer itself.

i use Glitch with FL Studio. Wonderful, brilliantine work. The program is stable, but I was unable to use Glitch with my MIDI controller (if I could automate Glitch’s effects, that would be insane).

But I had to say how amazing this program was. Very flawless work.

y0!

glitch is havin problems in renoise 1.9.1

whenever i send audio data to an effect-send channel and use replicant and glitch right after,
glitch makes renoise disappear… dunno what it is

Hey Kieran,
Seems like I know you from the past. My solo project is “Turtle Bend”. Why does your name seem so familiar?
Anyway, I just grabbed Glitch… pretty damned cool. Not sure how tight it syncs to the project, but I’ll find out soon enough! ;) Maybe I DLed an older version in the past? Hmm…
Is there a PDF manual I can download? Hollar back… Mike “Sonic” Meengs

Yep, confirmed doesn’t work in Cubase 4. The GUI just doesn’t show up sometimes but I can hear the audio being fucked with.

@Kieran – In response to your last post (re. triggering effects in the sequencer via midi in real time) is this a feature planned for inclusion in a forthcoming update? This is currently (in my humble opinion) Glitch’s most glaring omission x_x.

Lest I seem unappreciative, thank you thank you THANK YOU for this fucking awesome plugin. It TOTALLY takes the piss out of others in its class. Keep up the amazing work.

@Kieran – Also, have you considered releasing the source for this project? I would understand why not, this is totally future payware quality…

Kieran,
thank you for this incredible work. I had problems with a mix using MixMeister and I solved it using your great plugin. You got a donation button somewhere?
Best regards,
Sebastian

Very good! That there is no Macintosh!

Hello,
I just stopped on your side to say a very big thank you, for your wonderful vst-plug, I love it very much and all friends who work with me on music like it, too!!!
In the first time I had no idea, who it works, but it sounds great – everytime! ;-)
so I played a loop with it, and bounced it on a new audio-track, later I cut parts of them out and put it in my songs…
now I have a little idea, who it works and it’s more fun at all!
You can use it for every sound or loop and it creates very new expressions – it’s wonderful!
thanx 4 doing that !!!!
greetinx from germany!
(hope u understand my bad school-english)

This is seriously the greatest VST ive ever used. Not only that but it is just a great idea!!! And well done! Thanks for creating this i love it its genius!!!!, And congratulations on its success!!!

Whoa

– Cez

here’s a track i made with glitch back when i used windows

http://www.myspace.com/overdrivensoundsystem

it’s the one called glitch 8)

How about to play this with a midi controler like the M-Audio Trigger Finger or the Akai MPD 24
Some one have try this..?

I SEARCH Dblue Glitch v1.2.1 !!!

Get this thing to v1 man and stick a price stag on it! You should be getting paid for this fine app. Good luck with the on-going work and when you get time port it to mac as thats where your customers are!!

Very impressive, but in PT LE with Fxpansion wrapper I had graphics problems. UI would appear for a split second, then large chunks of the UI wouldn’t appear. Small chunks could reppear by clicking in that area; large chunks could reappear by opening Audiosuite windows on top of that area then closing them; finally got entire UI to appear by opening then closing Windows Task manager. I realise this isn’t a Glitch problem so much as something to do with my graphics display, but any idea what I might adjust to improve it? My graphics card is only 18 months old or so & system has 2GB RAM.

I’m not gay, but I love you! Glitch is a work of sheer genius! You should consider marketing this to Image-Line to be added as a part of FL Studio which I have been using for 9 years and can see how this plugin will flip the audio world on its neck! God bless you.

I have been using Glitch in a max/msp patch. Now I have up graded to Max 5 the plugin’s grafic interface does not open properly I just get a miniscule window.Any ideas? Thanks

Man,
you’ve done it!
The best plugin I ever found.
Waves and PSP are crap when you’ve got glitch ;)
Best whishes,
Stefano from Italy

This is simply the plugin I’ve tried out in many many time. Incredible! I love it! I’ve just waiting for the update.

Thanks a lot for that.

This is simply the BEST plugin ;)

hanks for making it free

hello to everybody!

a lot of people wants the glitch monster for MACOSX:(

When I use 1 pattern it’s ok., but when I try to change pattern or automate knobs, Glitch crash my host. When I can expecting fixed version?

I downloaded and installed last night. I am using Adobe Audition v1.5 . CP specs – Duo Quadcore processor, 3g Ram, 2 150-g WD Raptor harddrives, can’t remember my graphics card specs, but it’s a good nVidia G-force (less than a year old), LynxOne audio card.

When I click on it through Adobe Audition, a GUI pops up that looks nothing like the one in the video. It is long top-to-bottom (goes beyond bottom of screen), and has a bunch of sliders along left side. Is this the correct version? When I click “preview”, I get an error message and nothing happens.

I’ve adjusted screen resolution, turned off anti-virus, etc., to no avail. Any ideas? I really want to check this out.

Thank you!

Tom Robinson

@Tom:

I don’t know what’s happening with regards to the GUI bug you’re experiencing; it sounds like Audition is showing you its default VST parameter view, which is going to be ridiculous since Glitch has nearly 150 parameters. Even if you do get the GUI to display correctly, the plug-in itself probably isn’t going to work because it needs to synchronise to the timing/tempo information generated by a real sequencer such as Renoise, Ableton Live, Cubase, FLStudio, etc. Most sample editors have no concept of tempo, so they simply don’t provide the data that Glitch needs.

absolutely amazing plug……….im still plundering its depths a year later , and learning to use it in subtle ways. I guess it plays a part in almost every track i do now , but you wouldnt really know , as i solo things , record the output as wav then reslice.
Thanks a lot for this…..its been a favourite toy for a long time. Would’ve thanked you sooner , but ive only just found this through a link on the idmf forums.
You sir , are a legend !!!!

I’M FINDING A LOTTA’ USE FOR THIS! AND YOU’VE KEPT IT FREE!!! WOW!

What I’d like is to be able to increase the overall length and program the thing to switch between patterns, etc… I’d pay for that!

unbelievable… thank you for making something so amazing available to the public, you are awesome :]

Hi,like everyone else,I’d like to say what a great plug-in this is,but I have a couple of questions.I have cubase 4 and round about the time I installed Glitch,I installed a few bits and pieces, other music software etc.Anyway,my computer began crashing and all sorts of other problems developed, meaning I eventually had to wipe the c drive and start from scratch.Question 1: I understand Glitch doesn’t get on with cubase 4,but could having it installed affect cubase even if you are not actually using it on a particular project?Q1a: Could it affct the general running of the PC?
Question 2 : You said you are re-writing a new version of Glitch, will it be Cubase 4-friendly?And any news of an estimated time it will be ready?
As you can tell,I am a bit of a computer dunce, but love this plug-in and really hope I will be able to integrate it into my system.Cheers,James.

Kieran, Thank you for the reply (concerning Adobe Audition), — I downloaded the trial version of Acid and Glitch worked with that, so I am able to use, just not with Adobe –

Just started messing around with it, awesome plug-in!!!

Thanks again,

Tom

Hiho I have a prob with the Glitch…
wenn I open it my cubase gone crash every time I don´t hab this prob ever and the cubase sopport can´t help me and I don´t want to miss this plug :D please help me.

graetings saschbold

Kieran , for Cubase improvement i can give you my Cubase 4 LE for free…..

@jamesL:
If Glitch is not being used by your Cubase project, then there’s no way (that I know of) that it could harm the stability of your system. It’s not a program in the traditional sense, so it doesn’t stay running in the background or anything like that. Either way, I would simply recommend not using the plug-in in its current form, as it’s clearly still quite buggy. As for a time-frame on a new version, well, I don’t want to jinx myself by saying anything for certain, as it’s impossible to predict what life will throw in my way, but right now I’m feeling productive and excited, and I’m focusing pretty much all of my time on the project, so…. (very vague, I know)

Please make a version for MAC>

looks great, demos sound great.
shame im not going to be able to use it. back to beat repeat for me an all the other mac users then :(
still, its nice to see how the other half live :P

Great work !
I have to say this is a unique tool and it sounds phantastique.Very useful for creative work with lots of fun. Also I like the shape and design.

mystical & magical on October 19th, 2008 at 17:07

mac user it’s not pestilence!!!

;)

it would be sooo cool if there was a hardware version of this if you catch my drift..
thanks man awsomeness….
excellents.

Would you be interested in releasing the source code? Maybe I could help implementing this for the Mac. Anyone else interested?

The Demo for glitch is awesome..!
I downloaded it and fiddled with it in Cubase SX3 but I was not able to g hear effects in real time but I could after I processed it. How can I hear the effect in real time? Thx

Here’s a little loop I put together with Glitch:

http://www.zshare.net/audio/50364708b7a21a9a/

The first 16 seconds is the audio sent through Glitch normally, The second 16 seconds is that audio sent through another Glitch. :}

@David: Niiice :)

hi,
I really like this plug in, but i have an issue.
1. Is there a way to play the patterns that i create in a continuos sequence, one after another without me having to click every one ?. right now i can only play 1 pattern at a time. the pattern will loop. if i want to listen to another pattern i have to click that pattern. i cant play them all 1 after another like in a sequencer where you make a pattern and then connect them to make a song. this is my biggest thing.
also you should try to make it easier to select patterns instead of clicking each one, a quicker faster way, maybe with the arrows on a keyboard. just a thought. this is a very cool program you made, just little simple things like that would improve it greatly.

Fantastic plugin! Thanks!! You should set up a donation option ;) ..as its free

Hey K…
First of all let me say I have not even started to use your product yet but you have been getting such acclaim….if indeed the plugin that Teddy Riley is using on the Neko in Nuendo is Glitch then you have arrived! You may want to think about if you haven’t done so already (cause I may be mad late) but work with Open Labs in licensing this with their product. I’m a Open Labs Neko user and this would be a great addition to their already hot package! I’ve worked on both platforms Mac and PC, currently I use Nuendo 3 on a pc and now using Reaper on the Neko, I call myself the Protools Killah (side joke), but I see the benefit of WHEN IT IS FEASIBLE to also port a MAC version in the due course of time! Congratulations on a PLUGIN WELL DONE!!!!

Hi,
I just read THE WHOLE thread in 1 hour time. I realise when I read such a massive thread how people polllute this bec they can”t be bothered reading previous posts, or trying other settings on their own.
I’ve been trying to make my music glitchy for the past ten years now
I care a lot about illformed glitch, but I’ve been trying to do glitch without it, with tape delays, mpc pads, timestretches, envelopes, field recordings… and it will only be one more trick of the trade, it will not replace other production techniques. It is a brilliant effect unit, which I’m not too much accustomed to right now, but not being able to desactivate randomness is pretty uncool… i hope this isn’t true !

The glitch plugin as it is used in a couple of tracks I heard here and there might kill the glitch “style” and at the same time it might set up new boundaries to the genres incorporating glitch… John Cage used to say that electronic music was not a style of music, but just a tool to produce ! And that’s what Kieran’s glitch is about, you should all remember that it’s just an fx unit ! fullstop.

I love glitch, but if you put glitch over commercial euro-trance sh***, I’ll hate that glitch ! I hope you’ll all understand my statement. Use glitch in a creative subtle way ! Don’t kill the glitch !

It’s buggy, it hangs my fluity loops at least twice a day if a project uses it. Too unstable to risk unsaved work.

maybe you should consider uninstalling fruityloops and get a REAL program ?

Haha, take it easy, guys. It’s not FLStudio’s fault. Glitch *does* have some bugs in it, unfortunately.

I’ve read all beautiful comments. Bad ass Plug in . Now can i please have some sort of a documentation or manual. I have strict studio hours i’ve spent a whacking 10 hours now looking for info on Glitch copied all the tips i could into a tx file from here, is there an official write up or documentation? Much cheers dude, this is some sick VST shite man love it. Rocks in my ACID .7.0. Fo sheezee

AND PS I agree with Erich PLEASE DON’T ABUSE GLITCH MAN keep it subtle that’s what makes sweet tracks subtle

Happy Gitching

I’ve quickly converted the old HTML documentation into a PDF which you can download here:
http://illformed.org/data/glitch/dblue_Glitch_v1_3.pdf

Note: This is for version 1.3.03 of the plug-in, so it’s not 100% accurate or up to date, but it should cover most of the important stuff.

Hey Dude

Man thanks a lot, Cheers man for such a timely response. I hope you do well with this VST. It really is a nice piece of tool, especially with today’s hip hop genre and the quick changes it presents. ALL BE BACK for more.

Bless

:-\ FLStudio IS a real program. And this is coming from someone that uses Cubase, Reason and Acid as well. That said, I’ve never had issues with Glitch in FL, while supatrigga and Livecut don’t work consistently in FL.

1) sorry manoptic, don’t wanna hurt ANYONE, I just get jaded sometimes…
My personnal opinion about sequencers is : use the one you like most, the one on which you have fun, and work fast… PERSONNALY, I don’t use ONLY software, so I’m quite biased ! I’ve only been using software sequencers just because they became the best SAMPLING UNITS…

Tell Deadmau5 that FL Studio is not a real program. Only the biggest electro house producer on the planet (Yes, I am fully aware he uses Ableton as well). =/

On a real note: Glitch is fantastic. I’ve used it in tons of productions.

http://www.myspace.com/mygraysky

Every track on there includes Glitch in someway, some more than others. Can’t wait to see where you take this project.

yeah im trying to figure out how to use this vst plugin for Wavosaur v1.0.3.0 i have windows but dont understand how to load it in to the software please get at me about some suggestions or if you know exactly how let me know

Best freeware vst plugin ever, i would love to see standalone version though..

Man, this plugin is the shit! It sounds great and it’s incredibly easy to use. Great Stuff. Many compliments to you.

Wouter Spekkink on November 17th, 2008 at 12:17

I had download Glitch from here . I have Fl studio 6. I had paste de .zip file in Pluggin >VRT. But when I open it in Fl Studio it says that “It can load the sample” :( can u respond to me.

@Sanish: You need to open the ZIP file using a program such as WinZip, 7-Zip, WinRar, etc. Inside the ZIP you will find a file called dblue_Glitch_v1_3.dll — you must copy this DLL file into your VST folder.

Hi Kieran,

Absolutely fantastic plugin mate.
Will definately be using it on future tunes.

It’s very generous of you to give this away as freeware.

Thanks very much,

Paul (Before Moses & The Fisher Project)

Hi Kieran,
like so many have already said, thank you so much for this plugin, it’s a joy to use and sounds ace :-)
I am mapping controls through from a Novation Remote Sl25 and had some success with the mapping, but I can’t figure out how to save Glitch’s MIDI control map. Currently using it with Plogue programming simplicity’s sake, Ableton Live for jamming. Hitting ‘Save’ within Plogue’s Glitch UI window has created an .fxb file which I thought was saving the control map but on reloading Glitch they’re no longer mapped. Is there a way to save Glitch’s Midi assignments (all just CC numbers right now) or do you have a default MIDI map spec anywhere?

thanks again, I love it.
andy

I use this VST in my song. You all can check at my band site
song title is ” My Life 3″
but I created this song without my band.
I using FL8, Glitch and another VST

THANKS; Glitch for exploring…

Simply amazing plug. Thanks for making this, it’s so useful for a whole lot of things, getting a more distinct and organic sound image more than everything. The interface is amazingly intuitive and very cleverly designed. I tip my hat to you, good sir.

This plugin is sweet, im not sure if someone has already mentioned this, but in the next version, could u perhaps turn it into a multi fx unit, essentially a 2x or even 3x glitch, i think 2x would be hektik enough, but essentially just a glich on top of a glitch, so that say pattern one could be a crazy glitch rhythm, and then over that the next patten could say be simpler, like say a phazer for half the pattern, then a delay, or whatever “fx rhythm” u wish to lay over that, it would be cool if the second unit then had LFOs which automatically modulated its set of fx, i hope u get what im tryna say. also what would be cool (and really difficult) if at each segment? (glitch?) not only color bu also shade, which u could use to set a modulatable parameter of each effect. so… say by checking a box next to stutter length, then laying down some stutters, then dragging the shade bar embedded within the stutter, one would have a sequence of stutters with varying stutter length.
Just a thought, the software as it is is ingenious.

mac! :)
I’ll buy it

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! FIGGIN AWSOME!!! I AM DAFT PUNK NOW!!!!!!! OH MY GOD BEST PRUG IN EVA!!!! GRITCH FOR RIFE BITCH!!!

Hello Kieran,

As you may already be aware of the fact, I’d wish to re-emphasize that the ‘GLITCH’ is simply an outstanding achievement. There are tons of VST Plug-ins out there, but nothing comes close to this one. This Masterpiece Creation simply outperforms anything I’ve seen and your work needs some serious acclaim. I do agree to some of the comments above which might need looking into. Well.. , I will show my gratitude in the near future for all your hard work and your ingenious work. Until then, keep up with your Super Mind and Best Wishes too.. !!

Warm Regards & God Bless,

such a sick plug-in!

FOR MAC PLEASE!!!

Supercool!

just need a MAC version!

amazing plug. endless possibilities. it will make breakcore production a hell of a lot easier. also very refreshing that you are just giving away this fantastic piece of software. i have seen many plugs costing a bundle of cash that are nowhere near as good as this. so far i have had no bug problems with it. it has run perfectly :D

You are my hero.

I like the color coding. Have you seen the prog called Amen by Ziad Khouri?

+1 for a Mac version…

(I know you’re not ready yet. and I don’t want to rush you. I just wanted to add to the number of people that really really want this)

Hey Kieran, thanks for this great tool!!
Q. Is it possible to learn midi thru Acid Pro 6 or 7? i don’t get any response from my midi controller when i right click any knob in Glitch to assign and the white border does not disappear.,
Thanks again!

First off I want to say that I love the glitch!

There seems to be a bug where it crashes the host if I am watching the plugin panel while automation is occurring. I have been automating the pattern selector the most though. I have a controller mapping algorythm that breaks up the control messages into 16 so that I can be sure of which pattern is being played, but when I want to be sure I need to look at the panel to see which pattern it is selecting, and then when it changes, BOOM! :(

All works fine if the main panel is not being watched though. It’s just the uncertainty that is bugging me.

I use FLStudio 8 XXL
I have an E-MU 1212m sound card
I am running the ASIO drivers that came with my card
and it’s all being operated under Windows Vista 32-bit.

-Monte Emerson
Trance Emerson

Oh yeah. and I’m using Glitch 1.304.

I downloaded the glitch but I cant get it work!!?? I put the Glitch in my vst folder and after that i open it in fl studio 8 but it says Can`t open effect in a channel?? What is the problem?? did I do something wrong?

To the guy above me, This isn’t an instrument, you need to load it up on a Effect Channel.

And to clarify that, it goes on your mixer, in one of the effect banks.

too bad that glitch is useless for now because make crashes very, very often… especially with automation.
I add glitch to my projects and now I can’t finish my tracks because that crashes. Glitch crashing my application every time when I press play or stop button.

How can I use Glitch with shuffle (swing) grooves?

Hey Kieran I recently got Acid Pro 7 and for some reason my version of Glitch sorta goes hayware when enabled. I see the little time indicator jumping all over the place as opposed to just sliding to the right as normal. Btw I am using the older ver of Glitch (orange and black ver) as I cant stand the way the gui is in the new one.
Any ideas kieran?
~Jon

Im using glitch since 1.2.3 beta. It’s my absolute TOP vst for making IDM beats and i hope you will publish a new version soon. I’m messing around with SynthMaker. Sin oscillators can be easely FM’ed to jungle-style bubbling bass, i thought maybe you could make vst like this? I remember plugin for JeskolaBuzz named HD Garage using this algorithm.

If it will help, thats how it looks:

midi > Sin1 > (pot) >—>Sin2 > (pot)>–
[fm] | |— audio out
^—-<——- |
| ————-<———-<——–

This is only concept, i made something like this, ‘burgling’ depends on LFO (BPM) but i lost my project files and cant figure out how i made this. Please, make something like this, if it might help i can send to you alpha of my vst, just send me an e-mail if you’re interested..

your big fan

Hi,

I’ve read you’re not a cubase user so this might be barking up the wrong tree but I wondered if you’ve come across anybody else mentioning this. In cubase (3), a large project can often start to make some plugins fail to show their gui when brought up. Basically it draws the (cubase added controls) toolbar at the top – ie load bank and draws a transparent window of the correct size, but without the actual GUI. Just the frame, basically. I should point out ole’ glitch is unfortunately one of the few plugins that I find suffers this problem. Kind of a bigger issue for me is the fact my virus TI control centre does this, also.

Anyway, just thought I’d post it in case you’ve heard of solutions to this. For reference, both machines I’ve seen this on are nvidia driver based machines though I think the more likely scenario is that this is just another exciting bug in the steinberg experience.

Maybe my question will make smile a lot of people but i am sorry i didn’t find the answer by myself haha
I am a newbie about electro stuffs… But i ask the questions at many people and nobody can help me so i try here :)

Can Glitch make some loops of more than 64? Because with Renoise i didn’t find the way to make loops longer than 64… Have you a way to make more longer loops?

Excuse my english i am french ;)

and thank you for Glitch, it’s VERY cool.

Can’t belive this vst has missed me for so long, think I saw it in a mag once but never new its pottential. What an amazing bit of software. Expect some freaked out beats from my studio soon!

thanx for this amazing plugin!!!!!!!!!

joe

I’ve always done just standard music. Drums, bass, guitar and keyboards. I’ve been playing with Glitch for hours now and I’m going electronic now. Kind of a blend. There’s so much you can do with Glitch and I’ve barely touched the surface. Great plug-in. Thank you. I’m going to donate $20.

are you going to have one for mac os

Can’t wait for a mac version, this is an amazing plugin, I love it. My biggest disappointment was when I switched to Logic and found out it was not available for mac.. I’m sure it will make it eventually on Mac.

Cheers!

This is a gigt from heaven. I love it!
Thanks!

Great plugin — sheer genius. I’m having the same problem as fredlafirge, however. Glitch loops the first 4 beats of a .wav and won’t go beyond (in MiniHost). Is this a config issue or just a bug?

Fisrt. Awesome plugin!

Secondly, sorry to add to the noise. But yes a MAC version.. and I’d pay money for it. There’s no way in hell I’m touching Windows any time soon :)

well done this is truely amazing. like many others i hope that a mac verison will be made when you can.

can i ask a little about what program you have made this in. …….is it max msp? you have inspired me, im interested in trying to make plug ins, obviously this plug in is huge!!! it would be great to hear a what you are using to design this.

peace, love + light x

i’ve been using glitch since the early orange-something version and to be honest the onyl thing that keeps me from switching to Mac is that Glitch and 2 other DLLs aren’t available for Mac …

Good job in other words! :-)

Hy!

I have a problem. I pasted the ddl file to my vst plugin folder and it doesn’t work. I use Fruity Loops and when i want to use the plugin an alert appear:

“Sorry but this plugin couldn’ be found or opened.
If this plugin has to be registered, please check that you registered it correctly.”

I will try it in a different folder i hope it will work. If you have any idea please respond me back as soon as possible.

Thanks:

Corech

I use the glitch many times. But with cubase 4 it dosn´t go.please make is possible to use it with cubase 4 .I love the clitch so much :) I wanna pay for it but please make it possible ;)

greetings Saschbold

amazing tool, but we need a MAC version pleaaaaaase ! :)

nevermind…… it sucks. crappy results and costs money… :(

Thanks thanks thanks!!!

Congrats on being featured in Live 8 “trailer” :)

Hello. I can’t get glitch to start up using reaper for windows xp 32bit. I start reaper and if I try to load glitch into a track, reaper closes completely. Not even a chance to use it :(

MAAACC VERSION !!! Everyone uses macs !!! Make this plugin for mac and billions of people will want to use it ! Even pay for it, as there is no serious equivalant on mac.

MAKE IT FOR MAC !!!
BUT MAKE IT FAST !!!

:))

Fantastic plugin! Thank you!! You really should charge for it…

WE NEED MAC VERSION!!!!!

PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

Great page ! and great program !

The guys from sugarbytes where inspired by your amazing and original idea ;D I love open source, and if you are not getting really money from sales , would you like to open the source and so it can evolve faster to something even better ?

Thanx !

just downloaded the plugin…thing’s amazing. here’s my setup and a question i have…anyone feel free to help:

using FL 8, MPD32 midi controller, and the plugin now

wondering if and how i can assign a knob or anything in the plugin itself to my MPD32 midi controller, so i can use this live without using my mouse and just using the knobs on my MPD. please help if u know. thanks a mill!

Hey man just had a quick question for you. I use Cakewalk Sonar 8. Occasionally when I run Glitch with other vsts it will crash Sonar. Just wondering if you were aware of that? Either way its a great program! Keep it PC so those Mac people can keep crying about it!! Once again great program that has brought my band along way and actually helped us get signed!

A shufle function would be nice. Could be aplied in tracks with swing

does this work with reason 2.5 or do i need to upgrade? can’t seem to figure out how to get it to load in ableton live 7 either. look s hella tight cant wait to use hopefully figure it out before any response.

Hi there, I know for a fact that this plug-in is totally awesome, and exactlywhat I have been yearning for for over a year now, but I can’t unzip the folder. When I try it says; ‘the file does not have a program assiciated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations control panal.’ Pretty esoteric stuff, as there is no sign of a Set Associations control panal in my O/S. Windows then tells me that a destination file could not be created. I am using 7-zip to try and extract, but I have a horrible feeling that the program is not compatible with Windows Vista. Is that what’s happening? Or is there something else I can try??

Cheers,

Alex.

Hi and Thanks for all your efforts and your great contribution to the music world.
I just want to ask if I am missing an edit function. Is there a way to create an un-effected setting, so that i can program glitch to act more as a “fill” effect rather than a constantly morphing filter? I am using glitch and love it but would use it more if I could use it more sparingly in more melodic or straight-ahead songs.

im usually a ninja on instaling stuf, but i just cant get acid 7 to find it

help! ive fallen

I got the older version of Glitch to run in Acid Pro 7 but it wouldnt work correctly at all so I ended up sticking with acid pro 6. Not sure how the new version runs in 7 though. I use Glitch in practically every song I write so there was no justifying Acid Pro 7 if Glitch wasnt gonna run in it.

Hey Kieran..

obviously your plugin is massive, as you can tell even with the crazy amount of comments constantly posted!

However, PLEASE please keep rockin away on the rewrite man!! It’s SO buggy and it crashes my ableton multiple times every day. A lot of times it won’t load properly and when I try to access the GUI only a little box with an X shows up. So I just restart ableton and reload my song file. I would never use the current version out live.

New version time!! :)

thanks for all the hard work so far.. we all appreciate it and can’t wait for the new version.

T

I have the same with Cubase 4

Greetz

I just sorted through all the comments regarding Glitch, relating to Sony Acid Pro 7.
To those who can’t even see it, in the “Plug-in Manager”, simply click the green icon with a wrench underneath to see the folder where it searches for VST plug-ins. Then drag Glitch there, and then scan the folder.

Now, my problem is, I can’t get it to work (I have no idea how to get it to load/make Sony Acid open it).
Can someone who has it working on Sony Acid Pro 7 help me out?

I think it is a good

mac mac mac mac!!!!

just to let you know that glitch is actually featured on ableton lives website promoting the new live 8. I hope you have been told about this. xx

With dblue Glitch you make dreams come true and save a lot of work of riggig up FX and cutting stuff up by hand.

amazing suggestion :
1. find a mac programmer
2. let him do the conversion job (i know you think this version isn’t good enough, but you have no idea how better it is than anything else we can find to glitch on a mac !)
3. sell it

all of this extremely rapidly ^^
most people who make live music do it on macs, you owe it to the universe not to ignore us ! :)

Hi , this is one of my favorite VST , and I use it with VST/VSTi from NI family + Cubase 3SX on Vista Sp1 32Bit .
Sometimes I use it on live with Berhinger BCR as Midi Controler + Live perc

Bugs ? hmm … sometimes when I open Cubase and add it to audio chanel its crashing becouse :
1. This is first Vst in new project , If I open any vst and close it ,and them open Glitch all is ok.
2. I add glitch in fly on working loop/audio chanel.

What I want in new version ?
1 Add option to chanage setup of solo butons , In live performance I must turn on and them turn off , I want to only Hold buton of soolo to play with selected effect for 1-5 secounds
2 Add option to use 2 or more effects in One time
3.Add option to use alternative setup of one efect in fly.
4.Add some new effects or multi chanel support

Now in life performance I must open 3x glitch , them I setup 3 version sof all effects and paterns and I must remember to turn off solo .

If you have some problems or you need new ideas , say it . I can help you upgrade this vst or create new .

Hi Kieran!
First of all congratulations for theses great plugs. I a big fan of your work and an addicted user of your remarkable vtss.
I’m re-programming my set in live right now and adapting it the mac OS x. Unfortunately your plug-ins don’t work there… I don’t know if you’re planning on doing it.

Dblueglitch is amazing and I’ve been working with it since its development but my biggest attention goes to “dblue_stretch”. This one i can’t live without!! :D

I’ve been goggling for the last months everywhere for something similar to this but its not just the same… This plug in is unique in it’s type of freezed delay time-stretching.

I don’t know if you’re planning on doing it to the mac os x, but if for some reason (i really really really wish not) you’re not developing it can you please tell where i can find something similar to this for mac?

Thank you

I’m having issues with Sonar 7PE. I did a scan and it shows up as a “Legacy Wrapped VST” and I can’t add it to the list so it’s unusable.

Yes I did do the tempo-effect thing.

Glitch for Mac please!!!!!!

Dudes, its a real shame there wont be a mac version (at least not in the near future). I love this plugin, its only downfall is that its a pc only plugin. The majority of time when I’m in the studio its mac based and for certain when I play live I’d never use a PC as my main computer. You see after experimenting for a long time I’ve found your glitch plugin goes hand in hand with Ableton, only problem is Windows sucks as a audio platform. To overcome this I’m been sending pieces of audio over to a PC laptop to add the glitch effect and sending them back over to Logic/Ableton on the Mac. To be honest this is a waste time because you end up sending files to and from the PC all day long because maybe a little bits just not right.
For live performances I run Ableton on a Mac and send its output to the input on the PC which has a second instance of Ableton running (both are connected together via midi), I’ve had several software crashes on stage which was due to Windows not your glitch plugin.
The two points I’m making are firstly, it is possible to use this glitch plugin with a Mac (if via a pc), but most importantly, computer music is a Mac world I’m afraid your going to have to venture out there and learn to program Mac software if you want this plugin to mature. Yes OK the bedroom producer will use it, but when they progress and enter the world of professional studios they’ll be forced to leave this software behind and use other software (how much of a shame would that be?? You get somebody hooked on your software only for them to be forced to use some multi-billion companies crap attempt and keeping up with the times).

You have an amazing plugin here, if you browse around the web and check out what other software on the markets like it you wont find anything that compares. Never give up and never settle on second best just because you haven’t worked out how to overcome it yet.

p.s I have no idea what platform you used to write this software but if you would like I may be able to put you in touch with some people who could help you to cross over on to the Mac platform (if so contact me via the given email address).

i may give you Cubase 4 LE for free if it helps the development of Glitch @ Cubase

hello again…

I was wondering if the fxpansion wrapper for vst to AU would work to silence the mac crews?

what cha think?

Faaaar out. So many comments. I guess that just resonates the awesomeness of Glitch.

I’ve only been using Glitch for the last 3 days, but I thought I’d drop a line to show my appreciation for what you have provided for no cost.

Glitch has changed my workflow, especially with beats, and has saved me hours in the last 3 days and will continue to do so in the days ahead.

The interface is very well thought out, the colours make it incredibly straightforward.

Thank you, very, very much. =)

Is Glitch available for Mac users?

Hello.
In the first times i used glitch i didnt noticed that bug warning and after a few gigs my computer startet to crash.
first i thoght it was my pc´s fault couse it was trevelling around and could be broken somehow..

whatever..

I fully understand the problem with source codes that are made without any perspective to how it should be in the final version.
hope you get a good workflow with it.

I just want to ask how far you are with your rebuild.

i really looking forward to use it live again.

Really good plug.

Thank you

Hi Kieran!

As we’ve not heard from you for some time here, can we assume that your life is not allowing you to even think about your world class plug-in, or alternatively (and my personal favourite), that you’re about to make Glitch into the serious business venture it and you deserve?!?

You know by now what the music production community thinks of your work, and although bringing Glitch up to pro standard would no doubt take some investment (in time and money), you can be assured that the market is there and we would happily pay a decent amount of our hard-earned cash to have Glitch in our audio arsenal.

I realise that you simply MUST have already considered all this….. but I just thought it was high time I waded in with my unreserved support for you vision and sheer hard work.

I really hope Glitch has a bright future :)

@Sue (and everyone else):

I would love (and still plan) to continue developing Glitch and other plug-ins, but, most things are on hold at the moment. Once more, real life – or, to be more specific, my ability to pay rent and feed myself – has taken priority over personal projects, so it’s back to working a full-time job I don’t particularly enjoy in order to make ends meet. I did intend to try and turn Glitch around into a commercial product during 2008, and I did get a good amount of work done on a new framework which would be the basis for my future plug-ins, but it just didn’t quite come together the way I had hoped. Just gotta take things one day at a time I guess.

kieran your are a genius I’ve been using glitch since like december and i did not realize there was any way of me contacting the creator ..i looked the for so long to find a good vst that created the beat repeat effect used in ableton i like ableton and all but im a fl studio user at heart and this met my needs and beyond ..i absolutely love glitch

..if you wanna check out what I’ve done with it i used it on every song on my myspace except for “astral fire” (which was made before i found glitch) http://www.myspace.com/yeeears I’m not trying to promote my self i could care less about views and all that jazz i just wanna show you what i did with your amazing creation.

once again i can’t express how grateful i really am thank you :)

mac version would be real sweet! This is one of the best glitch apps I’ve seen!

Hi Kieran !
Firstly, want to thank you for making such an awesome app! And giving it away for free is very generous. We have moved our setup from PC to Mac for stage stability and have managed to replace just about every program/pulgin to a mac version except ofcorse yours.

Nothing compares.

Even though producing and performing with out it is like trying to ween yourself off crack, Im not going to ask for for a mac version as it looks like you have been beaten to death with requests already. I do however have a suggestion for you to consider:

Pre-orders of new/mac glitch.
I cant speak for anyone else here but I would be happy to pay an advance payment for the new product, on a “its ready when its ready” basis (even if its a way away). I wouldnt do this for many programs, but glitch is THE most fun plug to use playing live. This way you maybe able to leave the job you “don’t particularly enjoy” and finish the new version in a fraction of the time.

Maybe im just an adict grasping at straws but does anyone else feel the same way?

P.S.
Kieran im sorry if you are sick of people going on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on about a mac version but we are all hooked!

Hey Man,
Your Plug In is Wonderfull, best I found with this functions ever! Your are a big Helper for electronic Music, Thank you very much!
Have a nice time!

A day job you dont like to make the ends meet? Man, your milking cow is right here! You could make a living off of this plugin. This rewrite you’ve been doing the last year, are you still mucking about in Pascal? Or have you come to your senses and dome it in c++? Giving yourself an easier opportunity for a mac-port will, I expect, generate quite a bit of income to you when the mac version is available. You could be selling this thing for good money. And if you’re not that interested in doing more work on it, at least try to sell it to someone who are, or release the thing as open source. There are plenty of people willing to clean it up and port it to osx. I’ll see you on github.com.

Faen heller, mann!

wykurwisty vst-ek!

Hey Kieran, is there any chance you could just touch up the current release to work with Cubase 4 & 5? I must admit that this is my favorite plugin but Cubase 4 is just so much better than SX3 and thus I can’t help using it. I’ll be updating to Cubase 5 soon too.

There are only a few little issues in Cubase 4 which could probably be solved if you could spare a bit of time to help. I would be more than happy to test anything you need and assist in anyway possible.

I totally understand that the current code may be messy (I’m a web developer in my spare time), but in the end of the day, the current plugin works and still archieves its goal very well. If you could consider just touching up the current version (perhaps even have several versions depending on the host), that would really mean so much to us!

Cheers
Fots

P.S.: Your plugin is used by some of the best trance artists out there incase you didn’t know. I have heard it used by artists like Ferry Corsten and First State, so it really is making a big bang in the scene. I think a commercial version (possibly including a mac version) would be a huge success.

Still looking foward for an official db glitch for mac osx

Guys, guys. I leave a message stating facts and get a load of replies from people slating macs and myself without any foundation. The fact is the PC’s biggest downfall is its dependance on lots and lots of drivers and in turn the vast amounts of memory to run these drivers.
For all you muppets that can’t understand that I’ll break it down: Drivers are needed to run the Soundcard, Graphics, midi controllers, hard drives, usb/firewire ports and so on. Now think about the may diffrent combinations of hardware that can be put together, and now think about the different drivers for all this hardware. How could Steinberg for example make Cubase effective with all these combinations???? Think about it.
The other problem is the huge amounts of memory it takes to run Windows (XP uses 1GB to run the os, vista used 2GB hence Microsoft dropping it and moving on to develop Windows 8 I think its called). Now if you use those same few brain cells that enabled you to think about using the words ‘pretentious cock’ you may just about understand that running a PC along with music software and processing/saving audio to a hard drive (presuming you know how sound card works) is very intensive. This is not saying a PC can’t do it, I’m saying that Windows (all versions) are so badly programmed and driver intensive that
it creates errors left right and centre and will eventually crash the system.
As a mac is created by one company and the hardware used is tested to work with that individual system, music software companies have a better chance of designing software that is far more stable and less likely to crash.

Trond, I understand everybody has a right to speak freely but your comments are complete bollocks, intelligent people do buy Mac and for the above reason. Should I presume the reason your bitching so much because you’ve never had any experience with them whatsoever or is it because you can’t download much music software for macs via torrents etc and the amount of pocket money you get couldn’t even buy you a packet of peanuts never mind Logic???

For those that missed it this is Tronds comment:
Ian Jones.
You sound like a pretentious cock. You are part of the reason why most intelligent people hate macs. Poophead

Hats off to you, Kieran! My buddies and I started experimenting with dblue glitch on several Narcotic Puppeteer tracks. From glitching up scream and vocal samples, we started using it on bass synths and snares to great effect. I just started using it on my own work and I have one word: GENIUS! For my first foray, I glitched out a track called “Show Yr Children What Rainbows Look Like” which began as a BT-influenced dance track, but became a tropical glitch daydream! Kudos to you, Kieran and I can’t wait to see what else you come up with!

Maybe it has been noted in this endless thread already , but it’s always good to remember how the pro’s love this plugin :

http://www.samplelogic.com/artofglitch/artofglitch.htm

And there is a handy workaround for those Cubase4 users experimenting problems with Glitch :

http://forum.cubase.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=114243

Good luck , Kieran ! .

Your dBlue Glitch is awesome! I would think there might be some well heeled people out there to back your project financially as it would be a top seller in it’s category. Having said that, I thank you for it being a free download for a humble musician such as myself :)

You’re really missing a huge audience by not having this available for Mac. Looks like a cool plugin.

Joe Kennerly on March 25th, 2009 at 02:39

Hello, like many others here I agree that it would be WONDERFUL to have this plugin ported to the mac. I’ve been considering switching my whole setup over just for this plugin, or perhaps just installing live on my vmware fusion partition just to do the glitch stuff and then come back over to mac…. which is kinda ridiculous.

If you could team up with a mac programmer, I’d happily pay $29 for this program. How about the Mac version being paid and the PC version free.. just look at all the people asking for a mac version, it would hopefully make it worth your while.

Anyway, thanks for making the awesome plugin and making it free! (even if it is pc-only at this stage)

Cheers

Hey! JBL here.

I was looking at some ableton video on their website and I saw glitch vst in the live 8 video!

Thanks again for the plugins and the inspiration!

lol @ mac nerds

excellent man excellllllllllllennttttttttt

Hey, love the VST! use it a lot. I have noticed though, that it likes to forget it’s setting when moving project files from one computer to another.

I use ableton live 7, I have a work around for this. once I get it doing what I want for a sound, I will save it as a preset. if it wiggs out, i just delete the VST, re-add it and load the saved preset.

Hi!

Glitch work on 16 steps, but is there any possibility to use glitch on 32, 64 or maybe 128 steps?
It could be really helpful to obtain some kind of effect like continuous pitch effect (whit use of tape stop). Because most VST don’t allow (I do now why, but it’s impossible to do an automation with the pitch of most VST :/

In any case it’s a really good VST, it work like a charm and it’s easy to use, Thank you!

PLEASe I’m litterally abut to cry listening to that video. Why because I have a MAC. Noooooooooooooo We NEED A MAC VERSION. PLeeeeeASEEEEE!!!!!! oh god why is this 4 windows aughhh if anyone know other programs that can do this please write me at fpc@mad.scientist.com

PLEASE MAKE THIS AN OFFICIAL PLUGIN FOR MAC AND PC. WE ObVIOUSLY WOULD ALL PAY FOR THIS. I’ll throw down $100 for this. YOu could be chillin not workin if u just sold this plugin to me. the genius mac user. Stupid PC’s cheap junk thats only good for getting viruses and filling land fills

Hey Kieran, just wanted to say I have been hooked on Glitch since 2005 when I used it as part of my senior recital in college. It’s such a good concept….however these bugs are killing me! And I have been diligently waiting for an update…I would gladly pay $100 for an upgrade right now, and I guarantee many people would gladly pay a lot more for a full new install. Your plugin is so great but it has the potential to be so much greater! I am asking you to stop giving it away for free so you can start making a living off of this gem…..we need updates!

in any case, thanks :)
-Matt

Basically what everyone else said and one more wow. Glitch is the best vst I’ve used but then again I’m new to this. Guess I found the right one quick. I learned it pretty quick and it’s so useful and fun. Only thing I could see that would be cool is if you let me choose the effects on the rack so that I could have two of the same effect with different parameters, but I’m sure you’ve thought of that, oh and maybe build in some form of step automation.

Love it, thanks so much. If I ever make any money some will come your way.

Kieran, what do you think about disabling a randomisation module in Glitch?
It seems to be, what some people don’t like it, because at their opinion it kills all creativity (especially those of them who make a frenchcore style music because this kind of effects is the main conception of this style).
Without a randomisation module it will be much difficultier to make glitch-styled effects without serious work and understanding what you are doing..

@Briareos: The sequencer (and maximum buffer size) in Glitch is actually 64 steps long, so it is possible to make some of the effects work for this length of time. You must erase all steps and breaks in the pattern with the right mouse button – click with right mouse button and hold it down, then simply drag the cursor over the steps in one continuous motion. Now place a Tapestop effect step at the very beginning of the pattern, and set the “SlowDown” parameter to a very low value such as 1%. Unfortunately, the resolution of the parameter display is not quite high enough to work accurately at such low values, but you can probably set the parameter manually in your host for more accuracy (to use values between 0% and 1%). Glitch is not really designed to work this way with very long effect durations, so it’s not always perfect, but it is at least possible.

@HAIKUZER: I appreciate your support, but insulting Windows/PC users is not the way to go. I understand that it’s frustrating to not have a Mac version, but I’m getting really tired of these stupid comments about which system is superior. Each system is perfectly capable of producing music, it’s simply a matter of personal taste. You can read more of my comments above for more details on the Mac issue.

@Gigamesh: I appreciate your support, as well as the offers made by everyone else. It’s a difficult situation for me, because I do not feel comfortable selling the current version which is buggy. I would prefer to simply make a new, better version and sell that instead, allowing me to “retire” this old version and forget about all the stress it has caused :)

@Dream in Distortion: Yep, I’ve definitely thought about it, it’s just one of those things I foolishly overlooked in the original version. It will appear in the future, but at this point I cannot say when I will actually be able to make another version. I wish I could focus on this 100%, but unfortunately life is not that simple.

@Tester: Disabling randomisation is quite easy. Simply turn the “Amount” parameter to 0%, and this will disable any random [R] steps. Now program your pattern manually, placing each effect wherever you want it.

how can i control the knobs in the glitch plugin by midi?
i have a midi controler and i want to control the knobs in the glitch plugins with the controlers on my midi controler

@ Kieran

Thank you very much :D

@ joseph

Whit FL Studio move your knobs, and then click up left on “last tweaked parameter > create automation clip” or “assign to controller” and then move you controller to assign (it’s auto detect)

With Ableton Live record an automation, this way you will find which one is your knobs (because you will see it in red). When you now that you just have to assign.

Hope this help you

Hey all!

I’m trying to figure out how to use this plugin with Sonar 7. I put the dll file into the vst folder and the it only showed up under the “Process” menu. I can pull up the plugin from the process menu but it doesn’t do anything. I configured the vst to be a vsti but it still only shows up under process and does nothing. Am I doing something wrong?? Hi, I’ve been killing myself trying to create a glitchy timestretch function in MAX/MSP. Could you help me out with a brief explanation of how your timestretching function works, namely how to glitch it out? Glitch is totally awesome, however I’m a total control freak so I want to be able to control everything through MAX. Mucho appreciado.

if some extremely talented soul out there was to ask if he/she could develop a mac version would you let them?

please a version for mac! we need!

all i want for festivus is a glitch that works under the vst-rtas wrapper YAY!

Wow, this is actually amazing. I turned a simple four-to-the-floor beat into an absolutely awesome glitch track. Seriously man, well done. Ima donate when I have cash.

are you ever actually going to rewrite it? if not, how about open source the code so that someone else can do it?

how much time and money would you need to develop it? I.e. your cost of living x MONTHS needed to wrap this project up? maybe I could provide the funds as an investment?

If you make a Mac version, just tell me how much $$$ you want. I know I can get you the financial support you need. :)

I put the .dll in my steinburg>vstplugin folder, refreshed the plugin list and clicked to activate it. When I go to open it, it says it could not be found or opened.

What’s up? This plugin would be super helpful so it seems with my psytrance :)

Please someone help?

Doesn’t seem to work in FL8, but it does work in FL7, odd.

No help needed I guess :)

Unfortunately it looks like Ableton changed the way they host VST’s in version 8 and you can no longer automate the params of glitch. From their support forums:

“It is essential for the plugins to correctly support parameter gestures (BeginEdit, EndEdit for VST) according to the plugin standards to let the configure modus work. If you find a plugin not working with configure mode in Live, please report to the plugin developer.”

Just a heads up for future development efforts, might want to take that into account. Great plug-in! This thing is officially a classic.

You’re right Adam. But on the other hand i noticed that Glitch don’t crash in Ableton Live 8, contrary to 7. I ran the vst in Live 8 for an hour, changing all parameters and everything went ok, no error which is great for live performances. But would be a lot better if we could acess and programming the midi mapping on Glitch using a midi controller, which is great for timing.

Anyways, this is a awesome plugin.

Is there any chance of subscribing to a newsletter or something so that we can get an email when/if a new update appears? I know you dont really update this plugin allot and the latest version for me is actually really stable, but it would be nice to know if a new update is available.

Like you already know, amazing plugin bud! :)

dBlue deserves an award for making glitch!!!!! This is by far the best vst effect i have…and it’s free!!???!!

@Adam R: Thanks for that bit of information, I will look into it.

@Marty: I do not have a mailing list at the moment. In the meantime, you could subscribe to the RSS feed and receive updates that way. To filter out the other content and only receive updates which are related to Glitch, use this url: http://illformed.org/tag/glitch/feed/

I’d pay 100$ for a Mac version

Please make it happen!

Mac version. 50-80$

superburschi on May 11th, 2009 at 12:11

Just found out about Glitch and must say it easily has quality of a commercial VST, but its FREE. I have some feedback though. Sometimes I’d like to have 2 effects at the same time, how about adding another sequencer, or maybe two?? Other than that, it’s pretty much rock solid atm. =)

Thanks!

MAC USERS:
this might be useful…

i bet its heavy…
but its a start :)

exelente plugin … muy bueno.

mac mac mac!!!!

hello,

can the below be used to make glitch work on a mac???

http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/audio/vfxapplication.html

thatnks

I loved Glitch so much when I worked with it with my PC. But after a year of quite heavy usage this expencive PRO-PC died. 13 months is no good for a pro. It just melted and died. So I decided to move on. Now, working with MAC. I am trying to find a way to use Glitch.
It’s a shame how people are acting like religious fools when they talk about PC and Mac. “Mac that” and “PC that” and blaablaablaablaa. Let’s face it. Both are good in something, and nothing is not even close to perfect.

I hope some day you decide to give it (Mac) a try. I also would pay something like 100 (or even more) euros for that.
But I understand it takes a lot of time and might be too much for you or anyone.

So big thanks for one of the best vst-plugins there has ever been.

Hello,

None of your plugins work on Cubase 5.
I use many plugins and all of them work perfectly but this one.

Is there any chance you look into this bug?

Thanks

Pedro

I am using Win XP 64bit + 32 bit host (Cubase 5)

I wonder why everything can be controlled via midi, but the randomize buttons can’t. This is a glitch plugin! I’m not joking – this was the very first thing I tried to do when I experimented with your plugin – mapping the randomize functions to a midi button. Will you add this in the next version please?

oh and another thing that’s missing: one of the effects should be an octaver. I would love to replace my Korg SL20 Slicer with software. One of the very cool things about the Slicer is that its patterns contain suboctaves which turns the sliced phrase into something thats much more interesting rhythmically than sliced phrases that stay on the same pitch.

Open source it!

A linux port of this plugin would be awesome.

Allowing the community to work on this would make it even better.

Ian Lambert on May 25th, 2009 at 12:54

Anyone know why I cant this to load on Acid Pro 6.0 running on Windows Vista?

-e

Pardon the ignorance of my last comment, as I hadn’t read some replies to your prior comments. Is there a way you could share some of your ideas? Perhaps I could create a cross-platform standalone version of this (Or something like it?)

Ian Lambert on May 27th, 2009 at 11:47

Definitely hoping for a Mac version!!!

for MAC please!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey bro r u on Facebook? Would also like to donate! Wud love to stay directly in touch!
Much much respect for this masterpiece!
Mr.B

@Michael Peters: It’s not mentioned in the docs because I never got around to updating them, but it is actually possible to MIDI map the randomise effect buttons. You simply right-click until a white outline appears around the control, then trigger something on your MIDI controller to assign it. In the case of buttons, any value over 50% (or 63, for MIDI CC’s 0-127 range) should trigger it. If you were referring to the pattern randomise function, then you are correct, it’s not actually possible to assign that to MIDI at this stage. No real reason why it couldn’t be, it’s just one of those things I overlooked.

As for your octaver suggestion, well, there are definitely lots of things missing from this edition of the plug-in. Naturally, I do hope to implement a lot of new things in the future, and your idea is definitely an interesting one, but at the moment development is on pause while I deal with the stressful crap that life likes to throw at me. When I do manage to get back into coding on a more regular basis, I will definitely be looking to work on new and more interesting plug-ins, so I don’t think this particular edition of Glitch will be getting upgraded. I would just like to eventually release a final version that patches up the remaining bugs, updates the plug-in to use VST 2.4, and then consider it finished.

@Ian Lambert: If you have the ability to create your own plug-ins, then I wholeheartedly encourage you to do so, and I would love to see more people getting involved in this kinda stuff. I’m being completely honest when I say that the effects in Glitch are nothing special; there are no amazingly complex algorithms involved, and my knowledge of advanced DSP is practically zero. It’s just a lot of basic sample buffer manipulation, a few weird ideas of mine, and a whole lot of trial and error.

I am a life-long user of tracker sequencers like Renoise, FastTracker, SoundTracker, etc., so many of the effects were inspired by the things that can be done natively within a tracker. The Tapestop effect mimicks the tracker pitch slide command, the Gater can be achieved in a tracker simply by alternating volume commands: 40, 00, 40, 00, etc. Stretcher mimicks the sample offset command gradually progressing through a sample like so: 0900, 0901, 0902, 0903, 0904, etc. Shuffler is also simply mimicking sample offset, but doing so in larger chunks. Retrigger, Delay, and Reverse can also be found in trackers.

So if you have some interesting ideas of your own, then just start experimenting. If you need some guidance on how certain effects are created, MusicDSP ( http://www.musicdsp.org ) is a great resource full of source code to get you started. As far as actual plug-in frameworks, JUCE ( http://www.rawmaterialsoftware.com/juce/ ) covers pretty much everything you might need to get cross-platform stuff up and running. I’m not using it myself, but I hear nothing but praise for it.

Hi,any news onfixing glitch so as not to wreak destruction on cubase4?? Would love to be able to use it on my stuff.

Surely it works with Ableton in a Mac? Have you approached apple for funds? They should bloody hire you and are very open to development plans!

ps my gran would love this.

THANK GOODNESS SOMETHIN IS BREAKING UP THE DRAB REPETITIVE BEATS OF TODAY!

THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wauw man, this really is an amazing piece of work!!!

I've looked for years for an effect like this, but never stumbled upon one like Glitch…

Definitely should look into making improvements 'caus otherwise you'll be in danger of others making exactly the same thing but without the crashes.

I understand that you have to pay the bills, but if you would just overcome your fear and jump into the big dark, you would see that you are wasting time (big time) with a full time job. You're just confirming to be a slave!

Sorry for the harsh words, but you have to let go to be able to create!

Maybe it was plain luck that you made this plugin, but for me it's quite obvious there's a latent genius hiding in Glitch :):)

I wish you all the luck in the world K., but just luck wont work, you have to make a jump in the dark…….

Fanerose

Hi firts of all thanks for this pluging . i have download it but i'm using nuendo 3, how can I use it , i've been trying to open it but i just doesn't work , probably i'm doing something wrong can anybody help me out please.

Jorge Martinez on June 13th, 2009 at 10:50

PLZ make this one that i can automate knobs in live 8 :(

how did you come up with this idea? are you good with pre-existing hardware similar to this efx processor?

when i switched to vista, the timing was not in sync when i used glitch in my sequencer (acid) works fine in FLstudio though. a bit annoying and dont know how to get round it. please help – i love this software.

first of all i must say thanks for this powerfull vst instrument – in Ableton Live is this best effector to use for live PA..

I want ask you – if it will be possible to turn off quantization (1/1 is the lowest option) – also start effects on "toggle" or by "tap" on the solo or global button ;-)

I'm sorry if this has already been asked, but with soooo many comments to skim through, i probably missed it >.o;;
do you have any help file or 'users manual' of sorts? with sooo many knobs it would be very helpful to have some sort of guide..
if not, fiddling with it will make progress eventually XD

forgo last comment… i found the pdf.. lol -.-;

This is the best plugin i've seen in a long long time. Would love to have it. Hope you "Get signed" by any "plugin label" so that there is a mac release. As may others, i would gladly pay to have it mac.

The built in sequencer doesnt seem to be working with the bitbridge in Sonar 8 under Vista 64.
Is there a 64 bit version coming soon?

What a truly fantastic plugin – it does everything I'd want in terms of sample manipulation, instant gratification, programmability (both random and fixed), etc.

So it's completely heartbreaking to have Cubase 5 to run it on (and yes, I need to use C5's other features on a daily basis, so going back to SX3 to run this just isn't a realistic option in terms of workflow). Devastating, in fact, as clearly it won't be being fixed any time soon.

Thanks for a great Plugin, Keiran, it's a pity you're not in a position to make some progress with this magnificent and well-loved plugin (or willing to release the sourcecode); one of the classes that I teach were gobsmacked with its ability, and similarly gutted when I told them it doesn't work with C5 (which the school uses).

hi – congrats on such a wonderful plug-in, it's wonderful for subtly ( or not ) moving ambient atmospheres
i'm also experimenting on mushuggah-like guitars for added violence … I'll post as soon as I get it ready :-)
thanks !!

this is a stunning vst effect, i mean incredible!!! i think that some big software house should think to give some $$$ to the author of this project, n buy the original code, 4 try to fix the bugs. couze this vst really deserve money back, i don't know if there's somethin similar n commercial outthere but this one, is really simple to learn n u can do A LOT of things. unluckly it crash on my pc with FL studio :( after about 20 / 30 minutes i'm using it. so i suggest to the author (if he doesn't have time to fix the bugs) to sell the code to a software house and take the deserved money back from them :-) he will gain some $$$ and i will take my version with no bugs !!! (i hope)

I am having a problem using Glitch 1.3.04 with a VST host called Savihost. Glitch loads just fine and can load WAV's and play them as a one-shot or as an infinite loop. However, I am getting zero glitching at all, even with the "Amount" knob at 100%. Is this because there is no tempo being provided? Savihost does show a native 120.000BPM which I can change. I'm still getting no glitching.

I am really impressed with your demo video and I hope to get this thing working! Awesome work.

gt

very fun to use

@gt: When I tried Glitch in Savihost, the sequencer position was being updated as normal, so I don't think that is the problem. As far as I can tell, the WAV player in Savihost does not actually play the sound through the VST effect you have loaded. I tested some other VST effects by different people and could not get them to work either. I think it just allows you to have some background music or beats while you play live with a VSTi synth on top. You might try Tobybear's Minihost, which does allow WAV audio to be processed by a VST effect, but unfortunately it's quite difficult to get the sound to sync correctly. Your best bet is to simply use Glitch in a proper sequencer host where you will have complete control over everything.

Have you tried experiencing the world like this?
Microphone -> laptop running Glitch [on Ableton Live or something] -> headphones
Put it all in a backpack and experience the world all Glitched up. Meditation. Parties. Synergism. It's amazing.

http://psychonaut.com/index.php?option=com_forum&Itemid=11&page=viewtopic&t=35339

The name "Glitching" got coined because of this plugin. Thank you very much for such an incredible piece of software! :):)

Yes, I've often thought of trying this :) I think a small netbook would be more practical to carry around, and should have enough CPU power for Glitch, especially if you combined it with a lightweight host such as SaviHost or Tobybear's Minihost. There's also an app for iPhone/iPod called RJDJ which does similar stuff: http://www.rjdj.me I don't have an iPhone myself, so I have not tried it, but it does seem to have some very cool sounds.. especially the "Eargasm" preset you hear later in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lr-khifcl-U

my good old mormon
you HAVE to find a mac programmer and let him convert this plugin for the mac community
you owe it to music
the world cannot go on as long as you prevent this from happening
now is the time
it has come
go ahead
it isn't that big of a deal
peace

John Scoffield on July 18th, 2009 at 11:24

Kieran, you're awesome. Thanks for introducing me to Tobybear's Minihost! Glitch 1.3.04 seems to work in it. The only problem is that Glitch's step sequencer, with the 4 tick marks above it and the 16 tick marks below it, only cycles through a quarter of the length before looping back to the start. Any ideas? The "Length < > " is set all the way to the right and I've tried making it shorter and longer again, but no luck. It's gotta be something else…

I would pay good money for Glitch if it was a standalone running program without needing to mess with the VST world. It's so good. Thanks again!

gt

@gt: Yes, I've noticed this problem myself. The sequencer in Glitch corresponds to 4 whole bars, and it seems like Minihost is only playing through 1 bar before looping back around to the start. I'm not sure if there's a way to change this setting in Minihost, as I haven't used it much myself. Technically speaking though, this does not really affect things *too* much, it just means that you are limited to the first 16 steps of the sequencer. Many people work with 16 step patterns to begin with as it very common in drum machines and grooveboxes, and if you want extra variety you can automate Glitch's Seed parameter, or you can also change between the 16 pattern banks that are available. I will consider a standalone version in the future, but for the moment I'm afraid there's no getting around the fact that Glitch was designed to work within a real host.

MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still no mac version… :/

Just add a "donate for mac" button or something so we can buy you a macbook pro. You'll love it and maybe you'll see why so many people are crying for a os x release.
Glitch was one of the most important tools before I switched to mac… never felt like a "very rough prototype". I think it's quite ready to get a crossplatform release.
Have a heart… :(

This Program is very nice but it often crashes my Cubase 4.5.2 when I open it. Also, sometimes, when I open it, it does show no grafics at all. It is just a small empty window then :-/

I loooooooove ittt. Just one question.. Any idea why it doesn't work with Adobe Audition? I had the same problem as another dude posted a while back.. It works great in reaper though :]

SeeJayCrunkJuice on July 29th, 2009 at 10:17

My friend shown me Glitch.. Thanks for the best free/unique plug-in ever!
like almost everyone on here I would pay for a mac version so i could use it in Logic=D

MinisterPrime on July 31st, 2009 at 02:16

I just want to say thanks…..really usefull glitch………….see you soon on mac……….

I'd love to see an audio unit version for MAC. if it happens, it will make a lot of people happy.

I found out how to do automation in Ableton 8. Essentially, what you have to do is add Glitch as an effect, go into the vst configure mode, then in Glitch itself find whichever slider you want to assign and click like crazy with your left and right mouse buttons on it :) After a little while the slider will appear in the configure box and you can assign and do what you want with it. As the author has said, it's a buggy piece of software but this little trick will let you automate from the main app.

I love this VST though mr. programmer man, please release another version! At the very least, one that simplifies the automation stuff in ableton :D

Bah, it turns out it's even easier. Right click the knob and adjust the setting, it'll then become assignable :)

OK I figured it out. Its working good in Sonar with Bitbridge.
Glitch just has to configured as a vst soft synth instead of a vst effect.
Not sure why this isnt set up as a vst synth by default but it works now.

Thanks

I have a problem with it. Im using Fl studio XXL and glitch will not assign to my midi controller. All the other knobs in fl studio work with my controller but when i right click on a knob in glitch. nothing. it just wont assign.

Does anyone know how to stop the effect? I only want it to play once or twice, I can't seem to get it to stop. It plays in patterns. How do I fix this?

I need this in RTAS :(

You could render short sections of the Glitched audio to samples and then insert those into your song when you need them. You could also automate the master dry/wet mix level in Glitch itself, setting it to 100% dry for the original clean audio, and 100% wet for Glitched audio whenever you want it.

You're going to have to finally give up on the Mac version, people. He stated waaaaay up there that he will probably never make a Mac version. Nobody said he has to make a Mac version, and he's doing all this for free. If you would donate for a Mac version, why not just go buy Sugar Bytes Effectrix? Not exactly the same, but can substitute. I use a Mac, would love to see this (that's why I check every now and then), but it's not planned to happen.

i like it !!!!!

i want a Mac ( leopard or snow leopard ) Version ! PLEASE

Thank you so much for developing this absolutely AMAZING VST!!! I have been attempting to replicate all of these effects for almost a year now, used MANY different programs and VSTs and even resorted to ATTEMPTING to learn how to use maxMSP.
Glitch has just changed the sound of my music, and I GREATLY appreciate this. I haven't looked yet, but if you are currently accepting donations I will be donating!

Thank you SO much,
Kyle

Please make in mac as well.

Great plug-in, feels really professional, works perfectly, and has really helped to add some messed up and entirely awesome sounds to my tunes.

Cheers Kieran, best of luck with future developments.

This is the holy grail of glitch plugins!

i love glitch/
but since i upgraded to cubase 5 it crashes the project!
im so upset, i really got used to this plugin/!!

Sugar Bytes are making money with Effectrix which is not better than your plugin. You maybe even inspired them, I don't know. But whatever, they make money and you don't. That is not cool. Dude get your arse up and update Glitch. Even if you use the old core… Look at the posts… people would buy it. Actually you just need to fix the crashes, no need to improve other stuff at this point, to keep glitch interesting.

Good Luck mate with whatever you do.

Love this! I plugged a kaossilator through a stylophone and into glitch! And i tell you, the sound was evil!
You can watch a sample here, sorry for the bad videoquality but i was all exited and couldnt focus on the filming part.

So Kaossilator + stylophone + glitch =
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLvAbYzCbMk

Crashes with cubase 4, crashes with cubase 5, crashes with ableton 7, crashes with ableton 8, crashes with nuendo, crashes with FLstudio, crashes with my healthy, Im paranoid of crashes since Ive Glitch but I love it. Please remove the crashes and you will be my God. Ill spend a lot of money on your paypal account. Cant live without Glitch. Please dont crash my bugy live.

Greetings. I wanted to make a suggestion about glitch. Other than the fact that its one of the greatest effects vsts ever to be created… I have an idea for a Glitch2. Put a flanger and a phaser and an eq distortion.as part of the effects. Thanks in advance.

Andre O.

hi . i am mexican producer , and i need the spanish manual…for i can dblue
para sacarle mas provecho..
gracias

Thanks for the great plugin. Just to give a little something back – I was experiencing the disappearing mouse bug – in every host I tried – then figured out it was a touchpad issue – connected an external mouse and the problem went away.

headphones+eeepc (built-in mic)=superportable glitchtrippin' madness! thanks again.

We haven't experienced any of the crashes issues people are talking about. Only thing is when there are multiple db's and modulation or #2(orange) is on it will start effecting other effects in the banksas well. Otherwise nothing but a big party over here.

AWESOME PROGRAM! I would be very interested in a mac version of this.

I know you've heard it a thousand times, but PLEASE MAKE A MAC VERSION :) Thanks for your time and maybe if you hear it enough it will happen lol

This is an AMAZING vst…I hear you about your personal life..I hope and pray you find your way…back to where you need to be…I would love to use this with Cubase 5 as it does not work on that version…you have an extreme talent my friend…the music world needs you

PEACE, BLESSINGS!!!

I am going to tell a funny story and I hope all of the fans of "GLITCH" read this post. I am not using this site to advertise nor am I degrading the dblue endeavor however I will acknowledge the fact that a little over four (4) years ago I stumbled upon the "GLITCH" plugin webpage in regards to the search of a unique effect I could use on the production of an artist I was engineering. Low and behold… the glitch artifact. Later on I realized the developer (Mr. Foster) had made it available as a free plugin, but I had also noticed the plugin was coded in a slightly complex language… so I studied… and STUDIED. To make the LONGEST story as short as possible … The illustrious Digidesign and the fantastic time stretch goliath zPlane has licensed (yours truly) as the developer of a brand new and very powerful algorithm. I really owe it all to dblue… I would have never paused on audio engineering to focus on C++/DELPHI/MAX …etc. Licencing is complete and we just need to clear the promotional "yellow tape." Sooooooooo… all of you cheeky little software pirates out there …prepare yourself, because it is NOT free and it comes with some shiny-cool hardware… (so you can GLITCH your f**kin' brains out…) I figured this site and some other few glitch-loyalist forums deserve to here the BRANDnews from the source first.

oh, psssssssssst. and.

windows and mac version.

We have to thank Mr. Foster… (THANK YOU) !!!

peace!

ventriloquist on October 6th, 2009 at 08:57

They should make a version for a mac. I don't use PC's. That's when the program will be saying something. Now it is of no use to me. I am not gonna use a PC just for that.

Wilfred Mellers on October 6th, 2009 at 13:08

Hi there !
Glitch is a really nice thing, cheers to the author ;)

But: Im one of those bastards whore are screaming after an Audio Unit Version of Glitch :)

Did anyone resolv converting the VST to an Audio Unit ?
I tried it with FXpansions VST to AU Adapter (http://www.fxpansion.com/index.php?page=5&tab=22) but it doesnt work. Either the Converter doesnt like the 2.4 VST Standard, or the Plugin has another Standard.

@Psyfrog: The FXpansion adapter can only convert Mac VSTs to Mac AUs. It does not work with Windows VSTs. See the FXpansion FAQ for more info: http://www.fxpansion.com/index.php?page=5&tab=66#47

@Wilfred Mellers: "They" is just me – just one person with a busy schedule, bills to pay, and all the typical problems that life likes to throw at me. If you would please simply read the statements that I have already posted here, you would hopefully understand my situation a little bit better. I appreciate your interest, but as you can see, there have already been lots of other comments on this subject, and I've tried to explain as clearly as I can why it has not happened yet.

Hi Kieran, thx for your fast response.
Another method would be to use reason (rewire) to connect it to Logic, but the Problem here will be the same i think (Windows VST / Mac VST).

Damn :D
I really try to find a workaround (Sugar Bytes Effectrix is the best here i think) but Glitch is exactly what i looked for.
Maybe, one day, we can see an Audio Unit Version of it and you get rich ;)

When i find a way to convert Glitch for Logic, you'll surely get a donation from me :)

Keep on the good work.

Can someone please help me? I am using FL Studio 8 XXL and when I try to load Glitch, it says "Can't load effect in channel" What am I supposed to do? What does this mean?

A mac version (AU) would be killer!!!!

hope youll think about it!

Any news if there will be updates for Cubase 4 and Cubase 5 to get this thing working again? I recently switched hosts and can't use this thing anymore, which is a pity – it was essential in many old tracks of mine.

My friend has this effect and i really like it. I wish there was a version in AU format for GarageBand that i could use.

This plugin is bad ass. I use it constantly. It crashes the shit out of my stuff, but I live with it because I can't live without it. Gonna bounce/freeze those tracks for live performance. How much would everyone pay for an upgraded stable version of this software? I'd drop $50 without blinking. Big thanks to Kieran!

i have to say not many musicians virtual ones i mean pay heed to the programers who make the vsts and other programs we use to make our music. a big respect to glitch maker and all the others out there kia kaha the world needs you guys more than you know.

chris

I just came………twice.

this is sick….too bad it will never go anywhere or make this guy much money because it's only for windows

hey kerian i love this thank you so much it is all the effects i need easy to seperate the different effects in glitch just open a new 1 for every effect its insane i hate macs used to like them but now they just a money buz ya flash if ya have a mac in my time and opinion musicians are poor if ther not its a freak of nature or they arent really musicians again thankyou soooooooooooooo much mad respects to you and the other people who can make the time to create these beautiful vst plugins

peace out minimalastiks.

i am on the pc revolution id suggest never making a mac version bugger them. and for rusta if you still aint got it working it prbly cause the dll file aint in the right folder.

SICK plugin dude

also

F U C K M A C

you whiney Jobs nuthuggers are what give the entire platform a bad name.

How fuckin ignorant you mac kiddies sound. LEAVE THE DUDE ALONE ABOUT A MAC PLUGIN. Go fool around with your ipod

nice vst with tonnes of potential uses! i use lmms for linux and glitch works great! it would be nice if you could streamline the software a bit but thats not a problem. ive found heavier software tends to create more problems when runnning through WINE so it does occasionally crash, thats why i save my work before fiddling about with it.

also, its great for making wobbly dubstep bass!

mac sucks big fat floppy donkey **** btw.

hey kieren, i've noticed that Glitch's control parameters don't show up in abletons Live 8 config mode for automation within Live. Is there a workaround for this, or will you eventually get it working in Live version 8?

your plugin is one of my all time favorites, and don't want to be without it in live situations.

your work is dope. great job man.

Whilst I too would love, adore and cherish a Mac version, I'm disappointed that some fellow musicians who use PCs feel the need to be so abusive, dismissive, and antagonistic about another type of computer and those who use it. Let's all just make music!

My dubstep synths are rockin a little harder now thanks to Glitch! =X

Why in the world one of the big boys havent stroked a nice check to put their stamp on it is beyond me.

Kieren I bet a few zeros would help you find the time to fix the coding "mess"

i use PC + ProTools cause im married to the PTools trap, rtas would be nice, but i wont hold my breath, i'll keep boucing my Glitched parts with Cubase, and then back in,,vst wrapper is crap,,uh what a pain.oh well
Glitch is worth it, haha.

but the truth is Mac + Logic is where its really at for electronic music, its not even up for debate.

Hey all fellow macusers checkout this alpha version of wacvst (windows vst to mac vst adapter) there is even a picture of it running glitch on the website. i heard people got this working and then used fxpansion vst – au wrapper to wrap it for au hosts.
Havent tried it myself but im about to. might be worth checking out.

Oh Kieran Love youre plug it rocks

Kablam

FL Studio recognised it, but it won't load as an effect or anything… Can SOMEONE please help me with this one?

I simply adore this plug-in! It might not be perfect (what is?), but that doesn't stop it from blowing your mind! Clever use of it will render amazing results, using it a lot on a track I'm currently working on and it all sounds great so far, I cannot believe you're generous enough to give it away for free, you could easily make a buck of it! I can't thank you enough for Glitch! :)

Love this plugin! I've had to stop using it since upgrading from Nuendo 3 to 4.2 (crashes projects all to hell) but I anxiously await a new version – even if it's 5 years from now! Seriously, I would easily drop $100+ on this plugin if a new less buggy version were released. I'm sure you'll make a fortune off this in the future. ;-)

@ Rasta Omega: You can load FX in the Mixer of FL only. The channels are reserved for instruments! (First you have to put the dll of dBlue/VST into a folder and tell FL in the File options to look into that folder to find it. Hit F1 (Help Manuel) to learn the details)

@ Wreck: Where did FL find it?

Hey Kieren,

Glitch is da Shizzzle !!
There are a lot of MIDI controller out there.
Do you have any plans on implementing a MIDI Learn functionality ?!?

The perfect example if Spectrasonics Stylus RMX.

1. Klick Midi-Learn
2. Move (hardware) controller you want to assign
3. Move parameter on the screen to be altered.
4. Done.

Thanx anyway !!
Will donate in January.

Cheers,
Stanley aka. Bob Gavin

@Stanley/Bob Gavin: MIDI learn is already implemented: you simply right-click on a control in Glitch, then a white outline will appear around the control to indicate that MIDI learn is ready, then move a MIDI controller to assign it. There are more details in the PDF manual which you can get from the download page.

first, let me say your vst is breathtaking. it's a huge part of my productions and i want to thank you for creating something so brilliant. that said, i'm curious to know if there is a known issue with your vst and ableton live 7.0.3? i have a lot of issues with ableton crashing when i have one or more instances of glitch used on a few tracks in a project. and if i save a project with glitch, sometimes my computer will freeze completely when trying to reopen the project. but if i am able to get into ableton, sometimes the vst simply won't operate, and if i click on the plug-in edit button to view the vst's gui, i either get a little square with the "x" to close the window instead of the gui, or ableton will close out completely.

i tend to use overdrive a lot, and record automation within glitch, and when i'm editing anything in real time i can guess that 90% of the time ableton will crash. and i also use audiomulch, but i haven't had as many problems with that daw.

please let me know if you'd like me to provide more information. any info would be great. and again, thank you for this amazing vst.

Finally made it to donate 70 €… it's worth every cent!

This is one of the most useful plugins I've ever used. I remember seeing a video on youtube in which this was used and I was thinking to myself "damn I gotta find a torrent of this" and then I find out that you're giving it out for free! The only bugs Ive experienced while using it is when I try editing different glitch patterns banks.. Like if I have pattern 1 set on MIDI and everything and I try editing pattern 2, it'll crash. But that is easily forgiven considering how much you can do with just 1 pattern set. I've used this thing in every song I've made since downloading it. Its perfect for subtle effects.. Or completley altering your sound in ways you never even thought were possible. Thank you =]

Hey, Sorry, maybe you find some time to help me, I would be thankful, cause i've got a big problem with the newest version of the programme. everytime I want to open it on an audio the programme suddenly shuts down. The plugin worked for some time, but untill I tried to use the W-write-button (cubase sx1) to change the settings while playing the beat, it first didn't worked to read the written changes, and secound didn't work completly again sinse opening the programme next time.

by the way, sorry for bad english, i'm from germany.

i really love to use your plug in and I thought of making a donation. i'm not sure if I will do, but in fact i've never seen such a useful free-plugin in my life, but of a usual compressor. I tried to install the plug in new, but it went on like I said. the old version of the programme works, but I want to use the new one, because it looks better and has some more effects that I need, and I don't like, that you could not go under 16 at the old stretching tool.. I liked to set this on 4 or something… man it could make me sad, so please help me!

Hey, I saw your Program being used on YouTube as well as Your Product demo and all I can say is that out of all the Free and Non-free VSTs, this is in the Top of Awesomeness……but I have a Question. I downloaded your Program and tried to Use it. I unziped the file then Put the .dll file in the VST portion of the Plugin folder (I am using FL Studio 9)

And when I tried to open it, it said "you tried to load an effect into a channel. Load the plugin in the mixer instead."

So I ran the Scan again, it found it and I tried to open it in the Mixer, but then it said this "Sorry but this plugin cannot be found or Opened. If this plugin has to be Registered, please make sure that you registered it correctly."

I was really lookin' forward to using this to take my Music to another Level but I'm stuck…..

Do you have any advice, I'd really Appreciate it

Glitch is an amazing VST. All this stuff would have either A: not really have been [easily] possible for me to do, or B: horribly time consuming [and notably, I'd have to be working at a really high LPB, and a REALLY high BPM, excluding stutter].

Now, I can do what I mean, and do it effortlessly. Although, I wish more parameters were [easily] controllable from my host [Renoise, which works flawlessly with Glitch]. On the other hand, there's always the Automation window, but…

I wish there was a Linux version, but Renoise runs under Wine in Linux just fine, so I'll just take that route instead.

This plug in and FL Studio is the only reason why i have'nt completely ditched my windows laptop, its too buggy with respect to using in ableton live , for say a live performance. But great for creating f**ked up break downs and then porting them to my OSX driven MBPro. Suprised you havent been approached by some of the big players to helping you develop it further into the awesome plug that it very nearly is. Sir i salute you.

Any plans to have Glitch working with 64-bit architecture?

Make this compatible for MAC..!!!! Audiot UNits version is a MUST NEED

Quite possibly the best VST out there. It's by far my most favorite, and the first VST I go to when I wanna get some crazy sounds. Works flawlessly w/ Acid Pro 7 and Home Studio 7, I have no complaints, have used it live multiple times, and always works when I need it to.

Thanks for making such an awesome VST, and providing it for free.

Hats off to you guy(s)!

thanks for the amazing plugin!
hope things work out for your personal life.

if the whiners could just give the guy a bit of respect and space to breathe.

i mean really, kieran has done this all for FREE and on his own time, so why give him a hard time for not having the time or desire to make it MAC compatible?

anyways, i appreciate your work and will buy a pc just to run this plug in!

Big THANKS for Glitch from Russia!

So… I'm thinking about trying to port this plug-in to max4live with included Monome support.

Although this wouldn't be a perfect Mac Solution (as it would require ableton and max4live) the same base could potentially be built into a standalone max patch.

Is there a good place to look for the basic logic behind the glitch effects… and how I might go about programming them?

My work will be documented here

http://post.monome.org/comments.php?DiscussionID=6815

OMG! It does not work with Cubase 5 =( im so sad!!
Please update the plug in or make it open source… its one of my fav plugins!

hey, fantastic plugin.

I'm trying to develop a sequencer, using sound library FMODex (www.fmod.org).
Fmod is supposed to work with VST plugs

It seems that there is a problem when activating Glitch via Fmod.
I asked to Fmod developpers, and they said me that was an Glitch internal problem.
Any idea?

@mickeu645: It's definitely a Glitch problem. After a long, long time of having this project on hold, I've finally been able to work on it again lately, so I'm hoping to release an updated version with some important bugfixes quite soon.

ok, thanks for your answer and for all the work you've done.

I just need to chime in and say youve done an awesome job with this here machine…….it glitched the hel out of me!! Hope u get rich and famous!

Really happy to hear that you are picking this one up again Kieran. I'm using Reaper, which tend to not like Glitch very well, and I started to fear that you dropped further developement of Glitch.

My deep respect for your work. Have fun ;)

Chris

hey i found another plugin that does largely the same job, called effectrix you can find it here http://www.sugar-bytes.de/content/products/Effectrix/index.php?lang=en, its expensive though, I couldnt help but wonder whether you saw that and wanted to improve it, or if they stole your idea hah, but anyways this one is better because its free and does the exact same thing

This-Kick ass tool THX it`s a inspiration.

how does a person get the midi learn to work in FL Studio??
I right click it lights up but nothing…it doesn't recognize my midi controller and the controller works for everything else

Just to say we really appreciate this plug-in. Not just for what it does to the sound (which is wicked), but the UI is also an inspiration and really encourages you to play with it.

Thanks

Wow. This is very very impressive. Well done, so many plug-ins out there that are c**p and this one, for free, is a gem!

Hi Kieran,

I use the plugin as part of my DJing/Live Performance sets. Currently I automate it via the Novation Nocturn. Sadly, Ableton Live doesn't recognize parameter mappings, so I'm not able to automate and record the automation via Live :(

I'd be willing to pay money for that feature to work!

But even if it maybe will never work, I thank you lots for this nice plugin!

Best regards,
Timo

I just sent you a donation, as I've used glitch on several recording projects in the last few months. I have not scratched the surface yet, although the lack of preset support makes it hard to leverage my work…..

So consider my $$ a vote for preset support….

Great work in any case!

thanks!

Just wanted to thank you for a brilliant VST! I use it quite a bit and have yet to run into a situation that calls for a feature not already present in the 1.3 release. I'm not sure how you pulled that off but it's no small accomplishment!

I used multiple instances to mutilate this song for a remix contest:
http://www.indabamusic.com/submissions/show/12782
I'm especially pleased with the little bit of sickness at the end. :-D

Less in-your-face use in this remix:
http://www.indabamusic.com/submissions/show/11865

Not artists I'd normally be interested in, but I like the challenge turning them into something I like.

Some of my music here (more than one use this VST):

Thanks again, Kieran! Looking forward to your future releases.

It's been almost 3 years now, and heads are STILL using this plugin on the regular. That right there is a testament to how sick this Plugin really is, man. You don't have to look far to see what kind of effect this VST alone has had on the electronic music soundscape, all genres.

Oh, and backing up what Timo said above… the parameter automation Ableton. I've stopped trying to figure it out myself, and just basically worked around it by bouncing the track down with Glitch running over it and splicing the section back into the main project. It works, but it's a pain in the ass. If you could automate the pattern bank switches in Ableton, that'd be DOOOOOOPE! =D

Kieran, your last comment is the best news I received in a long time. I just switched back to the dark side (PC) to get a piece of the Glitch cake… just to realise it's not Cubase 4 compatible…

I'm not going to stress you by saying you should hurry up – I'm gonna be waiting nice and patiently. REALLY looking forward to that update :-)

Cheers!

Glitch is the most amazing and super-fresh-up-plugIn i've ever worked with in my 15 years being a digital musician! Thanks so much for this Plug! I've programmed alot in MSP to get those stuff, but this is just ALL in ONE! Great work!

GreetZ and alot respect to YOU!

DiggnitY

Glitch is one of the most used VSTs in my music! It's freaking amazing and the GUI so well lain out! :D

It could definitely be more awesome though with the support for automation in multiple DAWs like FL Studio and Ableton, and having a graphical filter or similar (with the possibility of automating it as well).

How's it going guys…….

Kieran I really appreciate what you've done by making this wonderful software free… People like you are THE FUTURE in a multi-conglomerate-whored-out-anything-for-the-almighty-dollar world. I personally do not use Glitch (as I am a Logic 9 on Mac user) but I do use similar programs which I payed BIG $$$ for…. All you downloaders: you're getting the deal of a lifetime from Kieran who probably put way more time into this program for all of us for nothing!!!! If money is time then this guy is definitely getting jipped for how many are downloading without donating. Think of it this way if you work a 9-5 job and you make say 10$ an hour and you go and buy something worth 100$…. That's ten hours of your life!!!! Probably more because Uncle Sam has to get his cut out of your paycheck too!

ON TO THE IMPORTANT THING: ALL YOU MAC USERS CAN USE THIS PROGRAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ON TO THE IMPORTANT THING: ALL YOU MAC USERS CAN USE THIS PROGRAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ON TO THE IMPORTANT THING: ALL YOU MAC USERS CAN USE THIS PROGRAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ON TO THE IMPORTANT THING: ALL YOU MAC USERS CAN USE THIS PROGRAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THERE IS A SITE HERE : http://www.fxpansion.com/index.php?page=5
THAT MAKES A WRAPPER PROGRAM THAT ALLOWS YOU TO USE VSTS AS A AU (AUDIO UNIT) OT RTS. I HAVE SPOKEN TO MANY PEOPLE AS TO WHETHER OR NOT THIS WRAPPER WORKS (IT BETTER….AFTER ALL IT'S ABOUT 100$) AND THEY ALL SAY GLITCH DOES WORK INSIDE THIS WRAPPER BY FXPANSION!!!!!!!!!! SO IF YOU DO END UP BUYING THE WRAPPER FOR A 100$ MAKE SURE YOU THROW SOME BANK AT KEIRAN TOO FOR DOING WHAT HE DOES. HE IS OBVIOUSLY VERY DEDICATED TO MUSIC AND FURTHERING THE EVOLUTION OF SOUND. HE'S A SAINT AND DESERVES MORE THAN HE GETS. I AM IN NO WAY AFFILIATED WITH HIM, NEVER MET HIM, AND THIS IS MAYBE MY SECOND TIME TO HIS SITE….. LET ME TELL YOU THAT HE'S PROBABLY A REALLY GREAT GUY IF SOMEONE LIKE ME HAS TO TYPE UP SOMETHING THIS BIG GIVING CREDIT TO A GUY I'VE NEVER MET IN MY LIFE WHOM I DIDN'T EVEN DOWNLOAD THIS PROGRAM FROM!!!!!!!!! SO BESIDES THE KARMA HE RECEIVES FOR HIS ASTONISHING WORK LATER HELP HIM OUT NOW WITH A FEW BUCKS AND I'M SURE HE WILL COMPENSATE ALL OF US LATER WITH MORE GREAT PROGRAMS.

@Andrew: I appreciate your support and enthusiasm! Unfortunately I have to tell you that the FXpansion wrapper does not work with Windows VST plugins – it is only designed for Mac VST plugins. Even though the VST format is available (for developers to use) on both Windows and Mac, each operating system handles things in a slightly different way and therefore requires its own unique binary file. A Windows VST plugin will not work directly on Mac, and likewise for Mac VST plugins on Windows.

I'm sorry kieran….I am going to have to verify my sources again…. I thought I was told by two different people that in fact the wrapper did cooperate with your program. Sorry to be misleading, I was trying to open up an entirely new opportunity for you and your hard work to mac users. By all means delete or edit my post as needed to get rid of the misguided info….However, keep up the great work man…. I AM ROOTING FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Kieran,

Thanks for the wonderful plugin and the latest update. I have been using it a few years now and for some reason the plugin will sometimes shutdown Ableton Live 7 at any given time. Not a complaint, but just a note to let you know!

Keep up the good work!

Respects

Thank's very much for this instrument ! I love it !

Hi Kieran,
This plugin is easily the most talked about VST effect on the web…I just picked it up, but unfortunately I have a rather crippling issue that I have not figured out how to resolve :/

I load it up fine, and the GUI flashes then goes gray screen. If I initialize it all the knobs and parameters appear, but the rest is grayed out until something activates it (like me clicking in a general area and managing to hit a button).

The sound seems to work just fine but the lack of knowing what I am doing is a bit of a problem ;)

If you have any input I'd appreciate it!

By the way, I am using the VST -> RTAS wrapper…So hopefully that is not the issue. If anyone using the same setup has any input, that would also help.

Thanks Kieran
